No, but really, how does state & city names relate to illegal aliens?

I always thought they had to do with the fact that we got Florida from Spain when it was ceded, and the rest from Spain later on...which is probably why they have Spanish roots...so I'm wondering....

Even if I had not, that does not make me a hyppocrite.  I would be contradicting myself. 

But really, if you are going to go to the trouble to dig up dirt one somebody, at least do it right.

There is a difference between understanding problems arising from illegal immigration (or the migration of the poor to a wealthier area) and racism.  You haven't grasped this concept yet.

What do you mean lack of information?  Open your eyes and read a news paper.  There are at least 10 million illegals here in the US.  There were ones just recently arrested for plotting to kill Americans.   I have no hatred for Mexicans or any other ethnicity that come here legally.. It is the Illegals.  They are a plague on the US society.  If you want to live in the USA, great!  Welcome.  Come and assimilate into our culture.  Don't bring your own culture/language/traditions and expect everyone else to accommodate you.  Suppose you were to move to France (I suspect you are contemplating it), would you expect those there to speak English to you and teach your children in English rather than French?

Coronado, apologies if that sounded like it was directed at you, it was not. It's mainly towards the people who keep spewing the same "Damn dirty criminal Mexicans coming here taking jobs using up social services blarghahghgaah" foaming-mouth babble every time this issue comes up without saying a damn thing about the conditions contributing to the problem, like they come here just to spite us and ruin our country. I've never seen you lower yourself to that kind of simplistic crap.

Now technically, since I am mainly anarchist in personal philosophy, I am against the artificial constructs called "borders". Realistically, also being very cynical in personal philosophy, I know that borders are one more crutch that the immature human race needs and can't seem to function without.

What really burns me though is that it's like dealing with a bunch of people who have organic brain damage that not only prevents them from accessing their long-term memories but also stops them from forming new ones. I see rhetoric bandied about that's older than every single fucking person posting on this board. I mean stuff that was old when our parents were our ages. It just gets dusted off, the nouns used then like "Chinaman" or "Dago" are removed and replaced with new ones. I know that American workers are suffering for this. But they're not suffering because Mexican workers are taking their jobs; those jobs are being given away. They're being given away because American workers have too many avenues of recourse against bad employers and the employers are trying to rig the game by hiring workers who can't access those same avenues of recourse and by paying off politicians to ignore their hiring policies while screaming to the public about tightening up the borders. They know the score. They know those workers are going to keep coming here no matter what they have to go through.

Meanwhile the worst kind of opportunists are taking advantage of the plight of the American workers to push the most foul and un-American agendas possible. Racist groups are pulling out their old propaganda about the imminent Mexican invasion, about how they spread disease and rape young girls and all kinds of baseless slander, and they're feeding it to people all too eager to accept it at face value without bothering to ask where the information comes from. Politicians wanting to look tough to their constituents are agitating for some kind of sick Iron Curtain-type border defense, knowing full well that while it may diminish the flow it won't stop the tide. And of course the people who employ immigrant workers are continuing to play one group of laborers off against another because they know they can't fight both Mexican and American workers at the same time. I can't make it any plainer really: the enemy here isn't other working folks trying to make a living.

I can wax seriously on it while still realizing that the human race as a whole is incapable of functioning without bosses and leaders and artificial boundaries and probably won't be mature enough to function without them until long after I'm dead and dust. If humanity ever gets to the point where it can function without those things, it will mean an absence of the power structure that allows the few to enslave the many and an absence of the restrictions which are avoided by the powerful and used to ensnare the not-so-powerful. I'm idealistic enough that I'd love to see such a world but realistic to know that I never will in my lifetime.

Deal with the fact that there will be immigrants 4 of my closest friends immigrated to England on (work permits) 2 year they all stayed on after the 2 years and are considered illegals they work in offices pay tax yet if they went to a boarder post they would be expatriated they have stayed and waited out the 5 years and now 3 of them have British citizenships.

Its all very well looking from the outside in but how about "trying" to change your perspective if you where faced with the harsh reality that if you didn't cross the boarder into a neighboring country to find work you and your family would be in a even more desperate situation.

It's just shows capitalism is "selfishims" it's all about ME ME ME !!! really catch a fat wake up what about society in general we have become so centered on ourselves that everything else in the world is a menace if it affects me.

How about social responsibility? Or is that something that you let your big corps do? Throw a benefit here and there for the hungry in some arb country you've have no idea about? Generally I find it sickening to think that the world has become like this. It's easier to open your wallet and or do a pay pal donation than getting your hands dirty and dealing with the less fortunate.

Its fine live your life in your insular little world moan about illegals and your petrol (gas) price and how your under threat buy the "Axis of Evil" watch your 1000 channel networks and forget about the world around you. It doesn't matter if it doesn't affect you directly right?
