O.K here's the breakdown as I see it.
The term "colored people" is bad.
The term "people of color "is good, unless you happen to be African American, then African American is good.
The term "negro" is bad, unless you are involved with the United Negro College Fund, then it is good.
The term "black person" is bad, unless it's black history month or you happen to be involved with a black history club, then its good.
The term "illegal alien" is bad.
The term "undocumented immigrant" is good. Even though they are breaking the law, pointing out that fact is bad.
The term "queer" is bad, unless it's in the name of a wildly popular TV show, then its good.
The term "Oriental person" is bad, even if you happen to live in what was once referred to as the Orient.
The term "Asian person" is good, although not all people who happen to be native to Asia can be called Asian, that's bad.
The terms "waitress" and "waiter" are bad.
The term "server" is good, unless what you happen to be serving is cocktails, then "cocktail waitress" is good.
The term "secretary" is bad.
The term "administrative assistant" is good, unless you happen to work for the upper levels of government, then the term "secretary" is good.
The term "retarded" is bad, even if you suffer from a form of mental retardation.
