Rugby = NFL without sissy armor.
NFL guys are bigger, especially the linemen and guards. They need some armor to protect themselves.PBAsydney wrote:

Wembley is an awesome stadium. I see it everyday (almost) and the arch is huge, took a shitload of time to demolish the old stadium and build the new one though. Too bad the FA Cup final tickets went out just as quick as these.
If you want steroids have a look at baseball, not American football. Btw, go Eagles (even though they drafted a fucking QB)Yaocelotl wrote:

I was disappointed too when they drafted a QB. Our defense should be better though.
Hooray! Go Cowboys!
Also don't NFL guys run into each with a lot more force, hence the padding.

I think we do MOAB
We don't want to kill our guys by busting their heads open.
Safety first
And Rugby is way different then American Football.......
GO SAINTS

I'm not surprised that England (with a little over-Atlantic help) can fill up Wembley for a one-off American Football match.
Anyone else remember the UK American Football league that was around a few years ago? Lots of teams with shiny uniforms and idiotic names. It faded away into obscurity after about two years, IIRC.
A one-off will be successful, but the game can't compete with the well established soccer and rugby which routinely draw the kind of numbers this one-off match will bring in.
Isn't there a game being played in Beijing at some point as well?
while i agree that both football and rugby are tough sports, please stop arguing that rugby is football without "armor."honestly i'd love to see some rugby players try to take on the huge linebackers and linemen in the NFL.i really would.plus,if you ever watch the NFL and see how quick these guys are, just think about how fast they would be without all that equipment on.

Bitches.
Chargers!!!!!!!
I love how guys write rugby is tougher than football. . . .
If an American football team went out there against a rugby team, they would destroy the rugby team!
A. Bigger and Stronger B. faster (rugby has too many white dudes who think they are fast). C. overall better athletes play football/more variety of athelete
Rugby players are big, but not as big as American Football players. . . .Rugby players are fast, but couldn't come close to the speed of some runningbacks, recievers, and cornerbacks have in the NFL. Lets put it this way, I would much rather have some international rugby player hit me coming over the middle than say a Brian Urlacher or Ray Lewis. . . .or in the past Lawrence Taylor!!!
For christs sake, linebackers in the NFL are as fast as the "speedsters" in rugby, AND BIGGER AND STRONGER!!!!
Rugby is great, but you dont see too many rugby players steppin up and playin football. . . .the only rugby players I have seen "step up" become kickers in the NFL!! LOL

what other sport is there where you got guys with nicknames like "refrigerator"
mabye because rugby players see it as a step down?
I used to play for a Norwegian American fotball team <---- that sounded strange
The Kolbotn Kodiaks
The Kolbotn Kodiaks
Wait behind the line ..............................................................
Here in the USA, guys who couldnt hack it playing college/pro football generally turn to rugby. . .lolVernedead wrote:

Its true. . . . .
Smaller guys play rugby, otherwise they would get murdered playing football!! All the guys who couldn't hack it trying to make the Univ. of Oregon football team (thats where I went to college), played rugby. . . .sorry to say rugby fans!!
I played 4 years of high school football, and walked on at the Univ. of Oregon. I ended up quiting the football team during the summer to play on their lacrosse team for winter/spring instead. Shit, I am only 6'0 ft 205 lbs!!! I did run a 4.5 40 yard though (my claim to fame is that I am fast)
I could have played rugby, but I was honestly better at lacrosse than I was at any other sport. Rugby is a good game, I have nothing bad to say about it as a sport. Its just that football players are far and away tougher, bigger, stronger, and faster than ANY rugby player I have ever seen or played against. They are contrasting sports, you dont need the size in rugby like you do in football!!!
Biggest difference is ANY football player can go down and play rugby. . . .NOT every rugby player can come up and play football at a competitive level. . . All the rugby players that have played in the NFL have been kickers. . .

the americans keep saying the american football players are larger but then...
*random googled image 1*

*random googled image 2*

now i just chose those photos on the clearest view of either player running with the ball (and there wasn't one for rugby hence the 'close enough' photo)

A. Bigger and Stronger B. faster (rugby has too many white dudes who think they are fast). C. overall better athletes play football/more variety of athelete
B. Debatable, and is this just sprint speed or being fast for an hour straight. Rugby payers stay on the field for 80 minutes with only 1 break at half time. NFL players get changed almost every second play (or every 30 seconds).
C. No way in hell.
I would much prefer to play a rugby game against these so called big men. They would have been run ragged and be completely useless within 20 minutes and you could just walk past them. Rugby has some, big tough guys but the game doesn't revolve around them. Its about speed and skill. Size isn't everything when you have a game which doesn't stop for drinks breaks every 15 seconds, in fact its a big negative.Rugby players are big, but not as big as American Football players. . . .Rugby players are fast, but couldn't come close to the speed of some runningbacks, recievers, and cornerbacks have in the NFL. Your talking about a country which sees Rugby as a lesser sport. Everyone who is good, plays NFL, its where the money is, its what you've all been brought up on. In all other countries the best players go to rugby. Your comparing American rugby players to American NFL players. ever wondered why America can't do jack against other teams in rugby? Its because they just can't hack it.fadedsteve wrote:

Only in America, As I've explained an NFL player could just not play at the same level for as long as good rugby teams.Biggest difference is ANY football player can go down and play rugby. . . .NOT every rugby player can come up and play football at a competitive level. . . All the rugby players that have played in the NFL have been kickers. . .
I'm not even a rugby fan, Much prefer my AFL (Australian Football league). I'll admit NFL players are good at what they do (running into people) but put then in a game which requires a lot more hand eye/foot eye coordination and just general more skill, they would get the asses caned. You get any 21 NFL players, put them against an under 21s AFL team and they would get there asses handed to them. Now take any AFL players and put it against an under 21s NFL team and I don't think the outcome will be so 1 sided.
Fitness (endurance) > Size
How many NFL players run up to 20Km a game (or 2 hours).

Rofl!!!!!!!! You've obviously never played rugby. See those pussy ass "football" players that wear a shitload of foam pads just in case they get a boo boo on their tootsie? Yeah.. Well I made my point in that sentance; I'd rather play rugby and get battered to fuck but know that I'm alive than play "football" and prance around on a fake pitch running around people and shoving them away instead of having balls and running straight at them because I know that it'll be so much more fun to go home and say to someone "Haha, I ran straight in to this guy and he went flying and then I ran through and scored a try" rather than coming home and saying "WOAH MOM I MADE A 40 YARD PASS AND THEN THAT DUDE CAUGHT IT AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH US!!" Grow some balls, I've never seen an American Rugby team but you don't know how many "football" teams there are here, explore.. Open your eyes, selfish cock.fadedsteve wrote:

American Football sucks big style. The guys have like kevlar plates underneath them which enlarges their shoulders to stupid width length - are they too afraid to get hurt or something?
