seems a lot less noisy then than the stock HSF I had on my x1900xt. That was loud

I'm sure there is one out there but couldn't find it yet. also heard about something bad about 8800 series' components making electronic buzzing noise. more info coming soon. (quite common issue as far as I know)
8800GTX's have a lot more quiet fans than those in the 2900xt

The 8800's actually have a decently quiet cooling! My buddy got one, and when I installed his computer and ran 3DMark06 to test stability, it was really quiet! Nothing like this, lol

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yup. Two 8800 GTX's in SLi run fairly quiet. I've seen a few videos here and there and people rave about the silence. Too bad they're as big as bricks

it's not that bad. my 1800xt isn't much quieter than that, but i have it set up to run full speed when gaming since i wear headphones and can't hear it anyway.
