Guys you know what i've learned from all of this? If nobody on your team appreciates you for all the flag cover and long range fire support that you give them fuck em and play for points. No one cares about me then fuck you!

- I have a question for my fellow Snipers.
All people who say they are non team players tehy suck...
Snipers give a lot of protection to you..mostly they fuck ppl up who sit in the gunner position in a tank.
Or they defend flags with claymores and you dont even see/hear that one flag was not captured by the enemy coz he protected it ! Maybe someone was ruuning behind ur tank to plant C4 on you...and maybe a sniper killed him...you dont even realize it !
So allways think...and the n00bs who talk shit to them...they also play as sniper sometimes !
Over and out !

That's how it came across, read your post for yourself.killer21 wrote:

Yeah, 100 hours is "I don't snipe"killer21 wrote:
I don't snipe because...
Maybe the way you do it doesn't, ever think about that... that when you snipe you're doing the same thing you complain about further along in your post, playing for yourself?killer21 wrote:
2. it doesn't help the team.
But regardless, this argument that it doesn't help the team is provable nonsense, if you don't want to accept it that's your business. Remember I'm not saying that sniper > everyone; snipers are not as useful as another kit in specific situations but the exact same is true in reverse, there are situations when a sniper is the only kit to counter a specific threat (just as AT or engie are in other situations). So there are zero real cases for no other kit than medic being useful (which is usually the core of the argument against snipers).
The operative part of this sentence is usually. And on that point, how many medic whores aren't out for themselves? For most players the entire point of playing medic is to garner major points, and a great many of them have mediocre WLRs to show their actual benefit to the team's goal.killer21 wrote:
No one likes snipers because they are usually out for themselves and aren't team players no matter what bs excuse you come up with to try and convince people other wise.
And as for team play, if you're not TKing, killing the enemy more than you're hurting your team (good KDR + kill assists and other tactical aids) that is team play. It's not as obvious a benefit to the team as a medic, and support to a lesser extent, but the same exact thing is true of spec ops, engies, AT and especially assault. But yet we don't see lots of "Assault are useless!" threads do we? Ergo it's largely bias, as any objective viewing of this type of thread will reveal.
Did I say that? Like I've had to say to you a bunch of times now, read what I actually typed.killer21 wrote:
Btw, what makes you think you are an expert on the subject?
...by your implication that makes me the person to listen to > you. Putting that kind of nonsense aside...
How clear do I have to make it for you to actually be able to grasp what I'm saying, not what you wish/expect me to be saying?
That does actually make a difference (especially since I have about 7 times your time using the kit, in a wider variety of circumstances) regardless of whether you agree, but I'm not saying that it means my opinion is automatically worth more on the subject. I am saying my views are based on wider experience, and obviously less bias (since I'd be the first to admit I'd want 75% medics on my team rather than snipers) as well as, clearly, deeper thought on the subject.killer21 wrote:
Oh wait...you have more time sniping than me right? You play more maps than me?
I'm glad you made that point. Yeah, playing in one way. And I'd put money down on the table right now, that it's not a simple reflection of your skill at aiming.killer21 wrote:
I am by far one of the worst snipers out there. I just don't care about the kit so I don't really care about my k/d ratio with it...oh wait...it's above 7..damn..I guess I know something about it after all...[/sarcasm]

I'll rephrase that, I exist. But I'm a shit sniper, can't hit anything over 200m, slow reaction times, bad hit rego, lag, etc etc. Yet I'm score higher then most and am much more useful to the team. I play sniper almost all the time;
it's part of the kit and with IFF usually active in European servers they're relatively safe to use (see stats, highish TKs, but not too bad);
I'm an urban-map specialist and I play to win, so I almost always have 1 or 2 down protecting a flag.
To my eternal shame I also use grenades a lot
A lot depends on the type of server (normal or IO) and the player load for the map size, plus IFF on or off, so that might make sense given where you're based.DrunkFace wrote:

i cant believe todd is still posting daily trying to convince people that sniping isnt bad all of the time. I ignored these threads for a month or so, but its funny to see another one rise to the top with todd still humping the dead horse as furiously as ever.
Obviously the usefulness of a human controlled character depends on more factors than kit choice. But this doesn't mean that kits are balanced or that certain kits (medic) don't have an advantage in almost any scenario. You can name skilled players that can make sniping work, or name specific scenarios where they help, but unless you are taking a few shots and switching kits, or unless your team has already won the round and you are just camping, sniping is DISADVANTAGED.
But we all know these scnearios dont matter to the sniper crew at bf2s.com. They pick sniper at the beginning of the round and play that way pretty much all the way through. They do it because they like it. And I don't personally mind that at all. I just feel the need to speak up when I notice todds long empty posts where he pretends like he is proving that the sniper kit doesnt suck compared to medics.
BF2 is a game with bad hitreg.
this means that rate of fire figures SIGNIFICANTLY in damage dealt. Todd even went to the extent of trying to do controlled experiments with jemme on sniper headshots because of his experience with their unreliability. Have you ever seen a Todd Angelo sniper vid? He even includes footage of all these seemingly good shots that don't reg. In a game where 50% of your shots may do nothing, it is STUPID to choose a weapon with a low rate of fire but high damage.
If we were talking about counterstrike or rainbow six, I would be right with you, sniper headshots fucking own. a good sniper will just rape and you really wont be close enough to even put a reliable pixel on them with an assault rifle. But with BF2s crappy hitreg and with its emphasis on controling small covered areas around flags, snipers are shit. Their most powerful weapon is their claymore and yet it is easily negated if you have a non-retarded medic around.
Barring uselessly long shots that involve no real presence or defense of a flag, medics can go for all the kills snipers get and revive everyone around them at the same time. And they can do all of this while using less FPS skill than it would take to be owning long range as a sniper. So exactly why do we ever compare these two kits? One of them is great in all scenarios, and the other is decent in many scenarios that arent important for the team but bad in the most critical scenarios (clearing flags).
And if there werent people like todd and jemme posting their vague opinions about kit balance, it wouldnt be so difficult to find non-retarded medics. But as it stands, many people are convinced that sniping has great potential for their team. Just the way many people have KD ratios of 0.5, and just the way many noobs will shoot AA missiles at a tank to see what happens. Bear in mind that this is a David Podedworny thread.

A sniper can be the difference at times winning the battle or losing it. Get a good sniper on your team that clears the way for infantry advances then you've got it made.
Having a medic revive you reflects in your overall k/d, not the weapon you use so the point of "having a medic around" is irrelevant. Thus, every time you die, it is reflected as a death in your weapon ratios no matter if you get revived or not... Next excuse please.Todd_Angelo wrote:

Is there any role that doesn't get dumped on?
Play a vehicle - you're jet/helo/armor whoring
Medic - you're just reviving everyone and getting easy points
Sniper - you don't contribute, you just shoot people
Anti-Tank - too easy with that big gun, where's the challenge?
Assault - no special skills, a "second-rate" class
Engineer - who needs you? Fix the assets and then what? Plus: Stupid hat.
Support - supply-point whoring goons
Commander - just run the UAV and shut up
Then there's the weapons we don't like!
Claymores = gaywhores. Ha ha! I wish I was smarter!
Grenades = NadeNoob. Is that the best you can do?
G36E = "frowned upon" because it's too accurate. Try shooting with both eyes closed next time.
At least we all agree that tea-bagging is acceptable and commendable. (!)

lol. Again, when you die, it is reflected in your weapon stats, no matter if you get revived or not. Go test it out for yourself junior. It appears you just can't except that someone may be better than you at sniping...oh wait..because I snipe on Jalalabad and that is it right? lmfao.
Seriously, i set up on the roof by south bridge on ghost town looking over at upper south side and spotted like crazy for my squad who were fighting over there. Took out about ten guys during the fight, it was kinda funny to see a guy chasing a squad mate or climb up the ladder and bang down they go, and we captured that flag, just two guys on it with me clearing anything that came by.daddyofdeath wrote:

If you get revived, the death will NOT count towards the weapon KDR. Dont even try to argue with Todd or me on that point.killer21 wrote:

it is the same as aerial superiority. if you can keep your teammates from being sniped/damaged before they can get into effective range themselves you are aiding your team. every kit has both benefits and drawbacks, and the correct combination of kits in a squad can make a huge difference to the outcome of the round. just one genuinely good sniper in a squad provides excellent support to the assault/medic/support/AT/spec ops/engineer who are rushing that flag.
All kits together combined into a squad can be devastatingly effective. All kits have a role and the better players understand this. Why can't the ones who think they are among such company get it into their thick possibly inbred heads?

I'm confused here killer. You have a 6.x k/d and you tell us that it useless? What is your k/d with assault and medic? Probably not quite 6.x although I know people probably have some good ratios. So you potentially caused 6 tickets to the enemy per 1 ticket for your team. (Let's forget the revives for arguments sake.) That seems like a big contribution to your team. (Unless it was by claywhoring with TKs.) Perhaps not to a squad depending on who you are killing, but to your TEAM ... that's a decent contribution. Of course I am thinking of the "Assault Sniper" with a decent amount of kills and not the "Camping Sniper" with only a few per round.killer21 wrote:

Get over it.
Also ... if "No one likes snipers..." then why are there so many of them? I just think people get mad when they suddenly die after hearing 1 crack from a sniper rifle and have no clue where it came from or when they blindly run around a corner and die by clay from their lack of awareness.
I also wonder how many snipers grumble about claymores killing them. Probably not very many. I can see a sniper killed by a clay grumbling more at himself than getting mad at the enemy that killed him. I do. Sometimes I even think " Man MrSniper... that was a good place to hide that clay."
I was on a ff=1 IO Karkand server and 4 of us snipers totally sealed up the west side of the map heading to the Suburbs. We were all dodging each others clays and not a single player was TKed. Afterwards, we all took off toward the main fight. So not only were we backing up the assaulters but we were covering our flanks too. We won that round and didn't lose a single flag. I noticed some of us had to refresh our clays during the round because of the 4+ attempts on the Suburbs that failed. Had we been medics or assault fighting on the lines, then we could have easily lost the Suburbs which could have been a turning point in the game.
It's true... that no matter how much we try to defend the "decent sniper" and their usefulness it won't matter to people that don't understand it. Just like people complaining about snipers doesn't really matter to us either because we see how we contribute.

Snipers are under appreciated. its impossible to count how many times I've saved a teammates ass from another sniper, or killed a infantry man who stopped for that split second to turn the corner safely and check for my teammate, or shooting a guy out of a helicopter, or out of the mounted gun on the tank. taken down anti tank personnel 1 second before they got the finishing strike on a tank or apc. impossible to count.
Ive saved thousands of ass's, kept "score whores" stats from showing 10000000 deaths, defended flags where 1 lone enemy infantry man was capping, and i was the only friendly near the spawn, and what do i get for it? "FUCK OFF HACKER" ......really nice.
snipers play a critical role in this game, whether people accept it or not. how many of you just stand there when the man beside you gets his head blown off? how many just sit in their mounted gun and just wait for that second shot to the chest? even in the game snipers control your mind frame. you don't wanna die, and yet you never know when you will.
show respect for snipers, snipers don't get points for medic bags, ammo, repair, whatever it is when you blow up an asset. they get none of it. the only time we get team points is when we miss the head shot and some one gets the lucky bullet in afterwards.
i personally i have taken down whole squads of medics and support. made them run and hide because they didn't want to die. and yet, even from my own team, players who's ass's i just saved from being riddled with virtual holes, call me a hacker.
if you don't think snipers are team players think again. think back to how many times one saved your ass. playing for points or not, either way, snipers don't like to lose. we will do what it takes for our team to win.

you want me to prove it to ya? well, actually i dont need to. for you to even find me in a map you'd need to be commander and use scan. and the only way you would kill me is if i was an idiot and let you kill me. i dont need to prove anything to a person like you. your 1 sentence there says it all. your a scared lil boy, or even more likely a 34 y/o living in his parents basement, who cant handle that there are better players than him.
you can keep your base raping servers for all i care. i'll still play as sniper no matter where i go. in my groups sniper only or not, i will still own people like you who think your the best gamer who ever lived. have fun writing your "flames", if they are worth a good chuckle ill post em on my groups website, just so more can have some good laughs.
snipe ya later.
Every kit gets stuff from people... I'm a medic and I get that all the time.
My main kit on my profile is SNIPER. I like mixing it up with spec-ops mainly cuz I can gun done infantry easy, even long distance if need be and you can blow shit up. Other then that my favorite sniper wep is the SVD. This is mainly cuz I'm a gunny sergeant who doesn't have the M95 unlock yet. It's always nice jacking some noob sniper who has either the M95 or the L96A1.
My big problem with having more then one sniper on the team is that they usually suck nutz. They either are bad at aiming, don't make use of claymores, or worst of all they simply snipe from some far away area that doesn't help the team cap or defend areas of prime interest.
ON THE FLIP SIDE, I LOVE BEING A SNIPER SQUAD LEADER!!! I usually get at least 10-20 kills with no deaths while leading a good squad. My best squad as of late is usually 2 medics, 1 support, 1 spec ops, 1 anti-tank. I usually play Mashtuur on the mashtuur 24/7 insomnia server. Know many of the players on that server as well (enemy and friendlies).
If you ever get a chance to play insomnia here's a few tips below:
1 if you think you are a damn good sniper be a squad leader and invite people you know who kick ass.
2 make sure you have your squadies cooperate and pick a well rounded amount of diverse kits.
(2 medics, 1 anti tank, 1 spec ops, 1 support for example.)
3 if you're playing mashtuur and the teams on your side are decent go after enemy artillery first before
trying to cap a flag unless you can rush a flag before the artillery becomes available at the beginning o
of the match.
4 If you manage to rush the artillery and blow it up wait about 30 seconds to make sure the enemy commander doesn't try to repair them via supply crate or even better...tries to fix it as an engineer. Either way, what I usually expect is a slew of enemies coming from all directions to destroy your precious squad. Shouldn't have a problem defending and getting tons of kills.
5. If you have a helicopter with your full squad get your spec ops guy to blow up their artillery, pick him up and fly him to the enemy gas station, destroy the UAV. Take the flag.
The following tips I mentioned above work like a charm whether the enemy team is EXCELLENT at defending or not. There's one more tip I forgot to mention that deals with an easy cap for the hotel on mashtuur but I'll save it for those who wish to message me to find out more. Happy playing!
P.S.- I've never been banned while playing the sniper kit. Usually the banning is from a high ping rate.
