Michael Moore (everyone's favourite lefty propaganda peddler) is in trouble again.

Having got himself the greatest film accolade on the planet (I'm talking about the Palm d'Ore btw) and courting more than his fair share of controversy with his take on the events surrounding the 9/11 tragedy Moore must have been wondering how the hell do I top that? In terms of his film career he was in a pretty tough position, what do you make films about when people aren't flying planes into skyscrapers? Well he may have solved his problem ...by breaching the US trade embargo with Cuba. Genius![/sarcasm]

Place your bets now for another successful year for Moore in Cannes.

P.S. I actually don't mind Michael Moore, he just uses the same biased techniques as FOX et al except he's on the left. He isn't really a documentary maker though.

Apparently he also shows how much better Cuban healthcare is to America's. Scary huh?

And actor Fred Thompson refuses to debate Moore on the issue. You can see Thompson response at Michael Moores website.

When I read the subject I was picturing Michael Moore coming up with a way to kill thousands more than the 9/11 hijackers did!

Hes making a new film...meh...the material doesn't seem as hard-hitting as the past two TBH

Oho no, man visits other country!!! Shock, horror, lock him up and throw away the key! No give him the death penalty!

Come on man, is it really against the law to go on holiday to Cuba if you're from USA?  Freedom what?

You have to go through a lot of hoops to do anything dealing with Cuba.

When I was there I met a few US lawbreakers... if you just fly through Canada or Mexico you're fine.

That's ridiculous, if my government told me that I couldn't go somewhere just because they had a bitch fight decades ago I'd be livid and I ceratinly wouldn't bang on about what a free country I live in.

If I'm not very much mistaken a US citizen can be given a $50,000 fine (which will be extracted through seizure of property/material possessions if necessary) and jail time if it can be proven that they spent a single red cent in Cuba.

Not only that, you can theoretically be convicted for using anything Cuban anywhere in the world.

It's interesting that you can be fined up to 250,000 dollars for, among other things, smoking a Cuban cigar anywhere in the world.

That said, I'm not against the embargo, I just think that some provisions may be a little extreme.

That sounds kinda communist.  They tell you where you can't go.  Isn't that the land of the free?

Seen a documentary about Cuban health care not so long ago. 1 Doctor to every 100 people or something.
They come round your house if you don't visit them. They advise you on eating and exercise too. The documentary focused on how some 'foreigners' go there for training. Its free, but you got to commit to 10 years working in Cuba to get the training. The US lawbreakers there simply couldn't afford the education in the US. After the 10 years they can go off a qualified doctor with no debt, though the 'law breakers' were not sure if they could get back to the US to practice.

My only experience of US health care was a friend who took a heart attack out in the Nevada Desert. He was rushed to hospital (un benown to me, I thought he was off for a ride) got shock paddled. He woke up on the waiting room floor by an angry security guard who trailed him out onto the street were he lay semi conscious for another hour. Then the same security guard put him into the back of a taxi (6 hours after the heart attack) and my m8 was so screwed up he told the taxi to take him back to the desert. He had no ID on him when he was found, so I guess he couldn't be guaranteed to have money, hence being sent to a "fix you up and out the door hospital" Shocking, if you ask me.
Wonder if you had a heart attack in Cuba, would you be treated the same way........the evil commie bastards!!

Been to Cuba, no reason to go back...at all.

But I do not see it as an issue since I could care less, but that is my own personal opinion.

You're personal opinion of Cuba as a holiday destination bears no relevance on whether a government's decsion to ban travel is a "huge issue" or not.  It is the principle and the friends I have that have been to Cuba loved it (but then they did go without any prejudices that the Cubans are "baddies" which probably swung your view usmarine).

I can understand the US Government not working with Cuba but to force your citizens too as well is going too far.  Whatever happened to the government serving the people and not the other way round?

i think you misjudge the average American's view of Cuba.  nobody I know thinks of cubans as baddies.  remember it was the liberal allstar kennedy who placed the embargo.
