No.

1.) Mass is the amount of matter an object has, it might be energy, but it is the amount of energy that has been converted into matter (atoms need fermions, this type of fundamental particle, to be present for this quality of energy to be present in energy). Protons, neutrons and electrons are fermions. Photons are bosons. Bosons are not converted into fermions during heat transfer. So it is more correct to think of it like this: mass as matter is a quality that energy can exist in, a common state, we are familiar with, is energy existing as atomic elements that have mass (they are matter in quality) due to the properties (qualities) of fundamental particles that are fermions.

2.) Also, as photons, being bosons, they are mass-less, adding them doesn't change the mass (amount of matter present, no fermions are added or created).  As fermions are what make up the nucleus of ordinary matter (the tea or teacup), only the "energy-state" of the electron is changed. This is purely theoretical speak. A "state" having changed does not imply a change in mass (amount of matter). A quality of being has changed, but not the amount of matter. If a photon (the discrete electromagnetic wave packet) had mass it would defy relativity. For even one lonely photon, if it had some small amount of mass, it would require all the energy in the Universe to accelerate it to the speed of light and this clearly is not necessary (nor what happens in reality; photons have no acceleration they are emitted at c:the speed of light). It might have some small indiscernible infinitesimal amount of mass in someones' mind (?), but only in obscure philosophical thought, not in practical applied physical theory (nor is it measurable as mass). An electron moving from one "state" to another, called an "energy-state" does not equal, nor imply, the creation of more matter (and therefore mass). They can-be/are virtual-particles (virtual when absorbed-destroyed; and real when created-emitted) in many respects (emphasis on virtual) - that is why I referred to them being like an "information packet."
