What if most Muslims believe this and we judge them because of the actions of the extremists? Is it fair? Do you know the Qu'ran? Can you be sure it's a Religion of hate? I don't believe in Religion, but I don't like bigotry.
Interpretation is everything.

The hate filled radical nutbags are winning the battle on who speaks for Islam.
Imagine a world with only one religion...
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
im one of the few soldiers i know who finds arabic to be a real beautiful language.
Because that sells more newspapers than a message of love.ATG wrote:

I'm no soldier, but I find the history and culture beautiful. Really. Civilization began in Iraq. Writing, math too.
Pity their culture has fallen so far as to unrecognizable as something great.

The Afgansitan people are particularly beautiful.

You must agree that generalizing about Islam or anything is bigotry.
i generalize about all religions. i make no distinction between any religion. i see fanatics and i see human beings that truly want to help their fellow man. islam, christian, jewish. we're all worm food in the end.

Many of those same tenets are found in ANY religion in the world. As are radicals, moderates, and zealots. Hate and love, sadness and joy, fear and courage are not limited to any ONE religion.
On a side note, sort of related to ATG's comment...I often see posts about the minority of any religion being the radicals/zealots and that because of that I need not fear it or trouble myself with protecting against them. I also know that the odds of dying in a plane crash are small but I still wear a seatbelt.

That's your belief and probably mine too, but let them believe in whatever they want as long as they don't harm your lifestyle.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Pity Islam then.FlamingPhenix wrote:

Although I agree 100% with you, Arabic numerals aren't Arabic. They came from India, but since Europe was writing the textbooks during the late middle ages and Europe got these numerals from the Arabs, they became Arabic numerals.ATG wrote:

That's my case too. I don't give a shit if you want to be a Muslim, a Christian or an Atheist, I give a shit if you are a radical. But I don't judge an entire community for a few extremists.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Well, can't find Jihad in the bible
All(well... most) religions are appealing in different ways. They all have their strong/weak areas. The problem is all of the Islamic radicals using their religion to justify terrorism. It is all interpretation.
No doubt, because when I hear it I get automatic fight or flight response.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

I want to either silence permanently that filthy sound, or escape it.
If Islam was that then there really could be Peace on Earth.
However, a much larger precentage of their religion is run by radicals, more so than any other modern religion.
What Islam needs is a Reformation like the Cathloic Church had in the Middle Ages.
