Here you have a bunch of pointy headed college types lining up to say why George Bush is a failure, but who cares what they think? I care what you think.

How did the republican party fall so far so fast?

I cannot image supporting any republican in the next election; immigration, private contracts in Iraq, torture, failure in New Orleans, deficit spending, just to name a few. These are all outside of Bushes direct control, yet they are things being pushed and supported by the republican party.

I voted for Bush twice, and impeachment sounds better and better everyday.

Keep printing up money you bastards, there is no shortage of ink...

He is equal in shittiness to Kerry and definitely worse than Gore would have been. Other alternatives?

Do either of you actually know anything about Perot, or his proposed policies? Hell, he represents the center position better than any president in American history.

He was all about balancing the budget, an increase in gasoline taxes, reforming the corruption in Congress, against NAFTA, pro-choice, opposed to gun control, protectionist in trade, and supported the work of the EPA.

Hell, what DO you actually disagree with, other than your parent's didn't like him?

Think history will not be kind to to the younger Bush, his afterlife in the books will prolly show his as on of the least brightest presidents with a panel of bad advisors.

My 2 cents.

I would argue that it isn't the Republican party as a whole but the ultra-Conservative element that has fallen.

In answer to your question: unchecked militarism combined with a lack of focus on domestic issues.

As I said earlier, the christian coalition infected the republican party around the time of reagan.  All that is left is the ultra-conservative.  look at McCain, he was once a respectable conservative, who has now been reduced to a Bush neo-con lap dog.  all they know now is pandering to the hyper right just like the democrats who pander to the hyper left.  Which is why Guiliani has no chance in hell short of constantly beating the 9/11 drum.  btw, do you know why Guiliani was out wandering the steets during 9/11?  because he decided to put the emergency response center in the WTC after the '93 attack.

I am not sure if candidates can take 100% of the blame. Lobbyists, corporations etc need to take some of the blame. The fact that it takes millions to run a campaign means you need lobbyists.

I guess it can be said that America is off worse than before Bush took office. The national debt he will pass on to his successor and the future generations will be enormous ( if I remember correctly, the budget was balanced when Clinton left office ).

Through his questionable foreign policies, he has damaged the US's reputation internationally, and through his "work", the US has certainly lost the moral high ground, that it once had.

Can't say much about domestic issues such as education or health care though. Maybe he has been more successful in these areas, although I doubt it, considering the huge sums his administration has been pumping into the war machine.

He'll probably call his presidency a success nonetheless, but from what I can tellthe facts would speak against him.

He is blatantly a puppet for corporate interests, who care only about their own greed and have no sense of civic responsibility or community service. He lies, constantly and often, seemingly without control, and he lied about his invasion into a sovereign country, again for corporate interests; many people have died and been maimed, and that has been lied about too. He grandstands and mugs in a shameful manner, befitting a snake oil salesman, not a statesman. He does not think, process, or speak well, and is emotionally immature due to, among other things, his lack of recovery from substance abuse. The term is "dry drunk". He is an abject embarrassment/pariah overseas; the rest of the world hates him . . . . . He is, by far, the most irresponsible, unethical, inexcusable occupant of our formerly highest office in the land that there has ever been.
I think this guy in the article summed up pretty much how I feel about Bush really well.

Disregard for the Constitution (Ashcroft, Gonzalez, Rummy, et al.)

Destructive foreign policy based on corporate interests

Destructive domestic policy based on corporate interests

Expansion of Government unseen in at least 50 years

Deficit Spending

Lying to American Public

Outing a CIA Agent

Hurricane Katrina

That's off the top of my head...

Whatever you think about Reagan, you can't deny he was a great public speaker. Bush can't even do that well, he just seems too inept.
