all i did was turn my computer i use for music and movies and i got a disk read error does that mean its dead?
no, just a sector/the whole of the HD is fubar/corrupted or badly connected. Is the HD with the music connected securely?

first i checked to see all was connected and it were,went in to bios 1st boot is hdd,which its always been shouldi change that ?scan disk is that when you check for error's on hdd yip youve probably gathered im retarded with technology .

try running the HD diag software from your HD manufacturer.
scan disk is the windows disk checker that tests for errors.
alternatively you could plug the second HD into your main pc and see if it works there. Thats probably the best idea
EDIT: my money is also on fucked HD, but disk errors can also be caused by all sorts of crazy stuff, so we should at least attempt to salvage what is possible

remove everything that can store data on it... DVD's, CD's, Memory sticks.....
I get that problem when i disconnect my HD, becasue it automatically changed my boot order to memory stick first, then i get the same error
