People hate the gold bar because it looks animated. It's not shiny, and it's got that ghey black border around it.

No. It was the first officer rank to be released in the game. When 1.03(I think) came out the rank requirements were changed and people who achieved 200,000 points were given 2nd Lieutenant, that was the highest rank possible for a while.PrivateVendetta wrote:

Personally, I like the butterbar (which I'm using as a term of endearment). It looks a lot better than the first lieutenant or captain's bars, probably because some designer or another made them look so ugly.

2LT is one of my favorite military ranks (USA). And I like it in BF2. The only problem is it blends in too much with the Sergeants; it's a crossroads from going from the Sergeants to the Officers. It's technically an officer rank, but it blends in with the enlisted ranks.
Brigadier General and Captain are probably my favorite ranks in the game. Sergeant looks nice too.
