Now I know that Bad Company is planning on having a singleplayer storyline, but I was just wondering, would you enjoy BF2 if it had a singleplayer storyline campaign. One that would still incorporate all of the vehicles to be used, but improved AI and with mission objectives. The story could focus on the player as you rise through the different ranks, taking you through most of the game maps. Sorry if this has already been posted before, but what would you like to see in a singleplayer campaign?

I think that'd be an awesome idea. I was disappointed when I played single player and it was just against idiotic bots.

I haven't played Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, but I really enjoy the storyline and single player from that. So maybe if someone were able to pull something like that off...

Cool.....

Mission 1.  Scout the streets of Karkand looking for a missing USMC agent. Find and return the hostage to the USMC's Main base

I thought it could explain how the US ends up fighting China and so on, even though someone already wrote a story for it on the forum. But we could have cutscenes and carry out missions similiar to SF intro.

It would be a cool addition but DICE would have to spend that much more time coding it. The single player mode in this game is limited because they wanted to focus most of their resources on multiplayer, and even with all that focus, look how it turned out. Buggy and imbalanced. Imagine how it would have been if they had put more depth and resources into single player.

I was thinking though that they could have made players get their "certifications" in offline mini-games before they could use certain kits on multiplayer. Like before you could get your defibrillators, you would have to pass a couple of tests where there were several teammates down and you had to prioritize who to revive first, then do it under enemy fire, etc. I think America's Army does something similar. That way people would have at least some idea of what the hell to do with their kits when they got online. But again, that would have required more programming, and we all know how good DICE is at that.

They're excellent at programming!

...they did program those bugs in there on purpose right?

It would be good if we could get someone to make it though, I always wanted a game made where you chose a different role in the game, say support and then follow through a bunch of missions related with that kit such as a heavy assault on a fortress. Or if you play as anti-tank you would be engaged with tank assaults or destroying vehicles and so on. The missions could also differ for the USMC, MEC and China. But at the start of the game they train you up with the different kits and you start the game with the one you scored highest with. Then you follow the game in the order of the kits from your best to your lowest.

Aye that's the kind of thing I'm on about, or if you're a sniper you have to get into position to assasinate someone.

However made that could make a lot of money. It could be done. I've seen loads of mods like it being made. They take a few months though, maybe not if your 1337 at scripts!

Definitely a cool idea. Carrying out missions like the SF intro would be pretty intense.  There could be a mission where you could sneak into a USMC/MEC/PLA base and destroy the commander assets, but as you would run out of C4, you would need to sneak around some more to find a supply crate or something.

Would be pretty good. I really wanted it when I started the game.
