I've never played BF2 but i have had Bf2142 since it's release and i still find it to be a great game

- is BF2142 worth buying over playing BF2?
After 1,164 hrs BF2 (769 hrs SF) I played 601 hrs BF2142 so far - and never went back to BF2 again.
No doubt BF2 was / is a fantastic game (especially Special Forces) but BF2142 is more balanced and, most important for me, has no jets and uber-choppers.

spare your money, it is definitly not worth buying imo, but make up your own mind.. try a demo or something..
I play them both and like em equally, both have good and bad points.
I find both enjoyable, the main thing 2142 has over bf2 is balance in terms of vehicle's, but im sure EA will be busy thinking of a new patch to change something in time.

I also hate the flying vehicles. not enough of them. and too easy to get shot down. Teh Mech walkers easily destroyed and they are just a big target providing little or no threat. the tanks suck.

I live in 2007 not 2142 so i'm going to stick with Modern Combat, not futuristic FAILURE.
But if you wanna stick with BF2, go ahead. I have not played BF2 since the day I installed 2142.

In regards to learning how to play and not dying so much. HA I say! HA! Everyone was @ or around the same level. I owned and died as much as anybody.
The game just wasn't my type.

On topic: I can't really say if i like BF2 or BF2142 more. They are both good, but different. There are things i like more in 2142, and there are other things that I like more in BF2. However, in 2142 there are no vehicles that can totally dominate a map.

I play both BF2 and BF2142. I also complete in TWL too (have experience in BF2 and BF2142 ladders.)
I bounce between the two games plus I play other games Like Half Life too. Each of the BF games have their good and bad points. Choices are good when you get bore of one game.

This is the main reason there is any argument between these games, and in fact, a lot of games. It all boils down to whether or not you like having to deal with an environment that is different to what you would expect to see if you went to the part of the world a particular game is set in, assuming it's even set on Earth.ARCHANGEL1941 wrote:

Why is Counterstrike still an incredibly popular mod of Half Life? Probably because it has real guns. Sure, they don't act anything like the real thing, but you can go and use the real thing if you were so inclined (and had access...). The same thing with BF2 vs BF2142. BF2 has real armies (although MEC aren't technically) who use real guns, real vehicles and fight in settings that look and feel believeable. Except that all of them are far from the real thing.
I'm in this position as well. I prefer the infantry combat in 2142, and play with a pair of family members who don't own BF2. To me, the gameplay comes first, I think it's better in 2142. Realistic settings are nice and all but are ultimately unnecessary to me if they get in the way of better gameplay. Note that I am not saying that 2142 is perfect!imortal wrote:

...and in reply to the OP, about whether or not 2142 is worth the money:
2142 is a lot like BF2, but it is also a lot unlike it. Try the demo if you can, and see what you make of the environment and stock weapons. If you find yourself wanting more but not getting it from the demo, then you'd probably enjoy the full game. You can probably find it for below the full price by now too, I know you can here in the UK.

No . Vanilla pub is for noobs , mostly . It is very rare to see someone who has skill on pub . In 2142 I see more skilled ppl then in BF2specialistx2324 wrote:

Lag on Titan... it's been a while since I have seen any and when it does it's because there is 2 clown shooting at each other on the Titan gun.
Weapons are accurate, may be you are inaccurate... don't blame the game
