They are a flegling Democracy.  They are their own country.  If Pakistan allowed us to go into their country we would probably already have Bin Ladin.

Let me remind you that both houses of Congress are controlled by Democrats.  Therefore they can pass nearly any bill they want (except in the Senate which requires 9 Republicans to vote for closure - 60 total - to vote on a bill).

The reason why we don't have a timetable is that it will give our enemy, Al-Quada, a time that they will win.  We have to leave on our terms leaving a stable democracy that is able to protect and provide for their citizens.

Granted alot of the fighting has been between two of the three factions in Iraq (Sunni vs. Shitte), but hopefully Political reforms will solve that.

Recently it appears that things are turning for the better right now with the Surge.

We probably won't ever leave Iraq, I mean we are in Germany still and World War II ended in 1945.

If we do get a xenophobic president, like Ron Paul, then its unlikely that our troops will ever leave the region.

However, Robin Williams for President seems like a good choice for me right now!!!

Maybe recently.  But the transitional government was a puppet of the US.  This guy al-Maliki or whatever seems a bit less friendly to the US.  Either way, Iraqis and Americans don't want the US in Iraq.  But, you are paying it with your taxes, instead of curbing immigration and solving domestic issues.

Can we not just kill Sadr and have done with him? A bit unorthodox maybe. You could take him out GS

Ok you and the 63% of people for the withrawl of the troops dont know what your talking about.
At this church group thing i went to a few years ago there was a woman who came in from Iraq, because she was coming here to go to college. She told us that the Iraqies are appauled at the way the US media spins the truth, and she told of how much the average iraqi looks up to our soldiers protecting them. Our soldiers line there streets and the Iraqies really appreciate it!!!
Now i know what your thinking, you think i dont know what im talking about, but really man let me tell you, its not how the liberal media tells it. The only Iraqies who want the troops gone are the ones who want to plan more terror attacks.
I will garentee you, if you went and found the average iraqie, and asked him if he wants the troops here he would say yes.
I absolutely garentee it, i just wish more speakers from Iraq would come to tell the REAL story, not just the media's story.

sadr dies and Iraq is in chaos.  as much as people would like to believe, it hasnt reached that level yet.  The government still has SOME grasp over the country.  the maliki govt WILL collapse and reconciliation will be long forgotten idea.

Except the media never asks those people, only the ones who been in close proximity to an airstrike or something or are supporters of Sadr or someone like him. But I agree with you.

well in a parliamentary gov't. thats usually the case.  the president serves as the highest representative of the people to the rest of the world and the prime minister runs the gov't.  talibani fills a ceremonial position.

Most Americans are against this war.  And FYI every dollar spent in Iraq is affecting your life, because your government is investing less money in domestic issues.  I don't criticize the troops, they deserve all my respect, I criticize Bush for not listening to the people of the US, and for lying when he says "If Iraqis ask I'll leave".

Point conceded.  I thought Talabani was a more influential person in Iraq, but it seems this guy al-Maliki is in charge of the whole circus over there.
