The beauty queen/woman in burka comparison is ironic because the "liberated" tag doesn't belong on either side. They are both oppressed.

More directly on topic, if the allegation is that we are sex-mad, guilty as charged. This, more than almost any other aspect of Western culture, genuinely threatens to destroy traditional Islamic societies. Iran is being subverted by the satellite dish more effectively than it would be by a military attack.

Some would argue that a culture that requires its women to wear burkas is subconsciously sex-crazed.  Think about it...

In the West, some guys go wild at the sight of bare breasts, but in the Islamic World, even seeing a woman's face in certain contexts is considered taboo.  That's got to have several levels of sexual repression right there.

It's like the old Amish joke about how a woman showing a little bit of ankle will drive one of their men wild.

*Apologies to any Amish that were offended by that remark -- but then again, YOU SHOULDN'T BE USING A COMPUTER!
