I was all for Bush and the war on Terror after 9-11. Afghanistan, sure it makes since to not give them terrorist assholes any refuge. Bush stated that any country giving refuge to the terrorist is a terrorist nation. Thusly I could only assume a Terrorist nation would be an Enemy in the war on terror.
Along comes Iraq, still not abiding by the cease fire, not adhering to the UN resolutions, and costing the US billions in keeping troops in the region so Saddam doesn't try to go back into Kuwait or Saudi Arabia.
So it is time to take out Saddam. Sweet, why the hell didn't Bush's daddy think of this 10 years ago. So I'm thinking we will do an Air Campaign and target Military installations, Saddam's Palaces, sweep in and kill off the Government thugs, make Iraq surrender, find said WMDs, make Bathist party surrender Saddam for execution, Put Iraq and other countries on notice that we won't dick around with them, and then move on to Saudi Arabia/Pakistan which are the two big players in be terrorist nations. Not necessarily saying we would invade Saudi Arabia/Pakistan, but leverage a way to allow the Royal family/Pakistani dude to rid his country of the terrorists without fear of being overthrown ( ie, we will provide intelligence and man power if you reform your countries stance with these hate groups and expel the terrorist organizations).
So what I got instead was:
1. get rid of Saddam.
2. Spend Billions rebuilding Iraq
3. US bogged down in Iraq while real terrorist countries dig in.
3. The dream of Iraq becoming a shiny democracy of hope in the middle East that will spur reform in the region and thus defeat Islamic hate groups and terrorism.
#1 is good, #2 will most likely cause the collapse of America as a fiscal power in the world and take away any chance of my children having the easy life I and Bush enjoyed in America (the secret is out), #3 this is like trying to win the Vietnam war without actually attacking the enemies home turf (north Vietnam). We all know how that political war turned out but Bush must not have paid attention.#4 (The meat of my post) he could be right with this.
I am reading news about Lebanon fighting Islamic terrorist with US backing. Whoa, Lebanon is kinda what I picture Iraq being if GWB's strategy succeeds and they are fighting terrorist now!!! Maybe he is on to something after all. Any way I put a link below to some info that was kinda eye opening to me about the region. It gives a clear picture of why there is so much political/religious conflict in the countries, but I also found hope in GWB's strategy where I didn't see much before.

3. despise GWB for how he conducted the War with Iraq (supported attacking, not spending billions rebuilding)
4. despise Republicans for running on education reform and immigration reform and doing nothing but pandering to the Teacher's Union vs giving vouchers and for pandering to the illegals vs enforcing the laws already in place (nothings broke except the laws aren't enforced, this is directly the presidents job to protect the borders and he can send the military there any time on a whim)
5. I think Condi is cute, don't really hate the Irish, work with Muslims (still think it is a stupid hate filled religion, but am not racist against Arabs/Persians/Africans/Asians), work with Liberals ( still think it is an intolerant, illogical, socialist ideology, but am not racist against Americans, Europeans... ),
