Please explain things to a poor new player!

I only bought this game a couple of weeks ago or so, and I've never played any online FPS games before, so the whole concept is taking a bit of getting used to

Theres a few things about the 'community' that I've noticed on these boards that I don't quite understand - mainly why certain things seem to be frowned upon. Also one or two things that I want to know your opinions on.

Why do so many of the people on these boards and on the game dislike :

Medics
Strike at Karkand
The grenade launcher attachment. (Is this frowned upon all the time, or just when its the only weapon someone uses?)

When i find i'm getting shot at, i tend to sprint to the nearest low wall, jump over it, and prone in the air. I do it because its pretty much what I was trained to do back when I was an Army cadet - but a few days ago i got bollocked for it by an enemy over the chat. Is this technique generally not ok?

Lol you wasn't diving quite like that, but yeah that whole lets run a yard and dive and do it again was really.... Fucking annoying to be honest.

Still, it beat exercises... How boring was they?

Anyhoo yeah some people complain about how you play, you're best off just ignoring them and carrying on.

Yesterday we had someone crying tonnes and I mean tonnes because I dolphin dived him. Let 'em cry I say.

well a lot of people call you noobs if you're a medic and you get a lot of revive points. they will keep calling you a stats padder. i definitely wouldnt consider this to be stats padding because you're getting shot at by the fucking enemy while doing it.

if anyone gets a kill with a grenade launcher at any distance, the person that died will scream at you and call you a noob. they think its the cheapest way to get a kill. go ahead and kill as many people as you want with that gun, its perfectly fine. the other guys that complain can just go fuck themselves.

also jumping around to dodge bullets is fine. most people complain about it because they cant aim at a moving target. so appearently if you jump around to dodge stuff, you are a noob, even though the enemy is too worthless to shoot you. its very easy to hit someone jumping around. people will also say its an exploit, which it isnt. all EA is doing to try and stop people from bunny hopping is making it so they cant jump and shoot. they should get have a talk with valve because they were able to disable bunny hopping in CS and their other games. EA just cant figure it out... so i say bunny hop as much as you want.

ok...

medics: they can score really easy points by reviving and throwing medic bags. I think its 2 pts for revive and 1 for medic bag (healing point).

stike at karkand: medic heaven. Sometimes over half the team goes medic, especially the USMC team. This is because of a bottleneck before the first base causes a lot of casualties - tonnes of revive points for medics. The mainly care about points over winning.

Grenade launcher: aka "noob tube". This thing is a 1 shot kill. Most commomly used by idiots with no skill from point blank range. Sometimes they kill themselves as well in order to kill you. (fixed in next patch).

Just do what I am going to start doing now, hop around and nade people at close range. Why? My new goal now is to win and piss people (the enemy) off doing it.

Don't forget to do it in their Base once and a while, that really gets them fired up.

SRAWing people at close range really winds people up too.

But the best one is shock paddling a whole squad, or some idiot in a hummer in the gunner seat... I wouldn't recommend doing that to an admin though, not unless you want a + kick and ban on your account.

yeah a SRAW can sometimes make it so the enemy cant be revived which is good for you.

anyways how is being in the back of a HMMWV a bannable offense? you are wide open to shots from any direction, also grenades take you out easily, also a SRAW... people just need to learn how to play the game.

Medics are sometimes frowned upon because they'll revive/heal people just for points and not actually to help the team. Like reviving somebody in front of a fire-fight or right in front of a tank.

Strike At Karkand is a whore's map. People in tanks spawn rape. People that are medics stat pad*see above* and so on.

Grenade Launcher(or noob tube, noob cannon, etc) are exploited because EA/Dice forgot to add an arming distance so they blow up on the first thing they hit even if they're two inches away. so you run around the corner and get blasted. Also, because a lot of people rely only on that weapon and they'll hop around and dolphin dive until they reload because they don't know how to use anything else. Hence the name "Noob tube."

What you did was perfectly legit. but if you constantly jump-prone over and over, that is what we call Dolphin Diving, and that is frowned upon. Same with bunny hopping.

To be honest its mainly just people complaining about the way you play, because they see it as a cheap way of getting points (with regards to being a medic) but to be honest, the medic is there for a reason, to heal people, they get points for reviving people, but they cant get points for blowing tanks up like AT and spec ops so I wouldnt worry abot people whining about you being a medic.

With regards to dolphin diving, its legitiamte CQC strategy and the only people that complain are the people who get killed before they can do it themselves so I wouldn't worry about that either.

Nade launcher is only frowned upon because its such a skilless way to kill someone in close quarters, however some people have developed long range NLing into an art.

To be honest, just play your own game and let people whine, eventually you will grow out of the stuff people find "annoying" because you develop new, more entertaining ways to score points and kill people. Don't worry about it, we were all there once. Live and learn, and if it works, its works

I forgot to explain earlier when I said it was being fixed. EA is adding an arming distance to the Nade launcher as well as making the explosion radius smaller.

i should join the masses and GL the fuck out of everything. i stopped playing assault a while ago since i got my expert assault. so now im trying to get more time as other classes. i play a ton of medic now, and its funny how easy it is to kill the enemies that are grenade launching a lot. learn how to aim and you can own all the grenade launchers. but the funniest thing i see is when someone shoots a grenade at me, and misses, then tried to reload. that is just stupid. in the amount of time it takes someone to reload, i can kill them and the other enemies around them.

i personally love medics. i dont like waiting to get back to the action. i agree that some medics only do it for the pts, but there are ppl who do it to help the team out by reviving a guy so he doesnt get a death and have to wait 15 secs to get back in the game. Strike at karkand is a good map if u like non stop action, like me. "noob tubes" i dont rlly have a problem with as long as u dont have to use it as ur main weapon and as long as u can use it without killing urself. ya theres my two cents, hope this helped a bit.
