works real great also a good way of bombing with the j-10 on the carrier if you figure the tilt of ur jet you need to be at you can get it so one bomb hits the jet spawn and the other hit the helicopter spawn(AH-1Z/fighter heli) killing about 10 people or so then come back and whipe the rest out with your machine gun

The F35 is a good jet, you just need to know how to use it, here are a few tips i have picked up on:

If your dog fighting use lots of barrel rolls u roll the fastest and make sure you are cutting your throttle on turns.  I have never had a J-10 shoot me down when i do a hard  cut throttle turn they just fly past me.
Never Ever ever ever ever use missiles on a J-10, i have had 6 missile all go past a j-10 flying straight BS i know.
MGs at the engine will down u a j-10.

I may do up an F35 guide soon.

Check my Stats i don't fly the j-10 to often and i have a decent Aviator score + I'm a wake whore.

Joystick is the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro with Force Feedback

cya on the battlefield.
Look at my stats...  I think I know something about jets on wake!  If I fly an F35b i might get 60 or 70 points in the round, if I fly the J10 there is a 70% chance I will get above 100 points.  I like to fly the F35b for a challenge and the J10 just for fun.

Dont get mad at me for "being a J10 whore" I know I am one but I do what I have fun doing and you wont make me change what I do!

Same here mate, i only really fly the j-10 for fun as i know the only thing that can kill it is a palm tree, but i love the challange of matching the F35 with the j-10 to its good fun, i dont get 70 - 80, i get around 50 - 60.  Still fun though.

same here, cept i have a 90% chance of getting over 100 pts with j10.

with f35 i just rape the airfield pissing off the group that waits there. then i steal it as american, or take out enemies at north tip before attackin the j10 as it spawns again.

I have a K/D ratio of ~12.6 and ~62 hours logged in BF2 jet aircraft, so I'd say I'm somewhat qualified to answer this:

1. Have questions like this been asked before? The search button and featured posts have many topics related to piloting.
2. Mouse or joystick? Depends on the user, and there are pro pilots who use one or the other...or both.
3. Create a local server to practice flying, stunt flying (close to the deck and other hard surfaces).
4. Practice flying on a single player server. Perfect bombing runs and the use of your MG. Make extensive use of your chase front cam to check for bandits, or just to see where your bombs land. I have view switching buttons on my joystick.
5. Find some resources online or at a local library listing evasive manuevers and other aerial tactics for jet aircraft. See what works with BF2 physics and what doesn't. There are many that you can make use of. Practice all of this offline and in single player, to get a feel for it.
6. Your jet's maximum speed increases at high altitude. Learn what the stall ceiling is, and fly just below it to escape pursuers. People chasing you will either give up, bewildered, or be smart enough to follow you, but not smart enough to realize that they are about to hit the stall zone and fly straight off the map. They'll die, but their plane won't respawn until it blows up. Cheap tactics, but it works.
7. Practice landing if you want, but unless the other team doesn't have anything to threaten your carrier/airstrip, avoid it if at all possible. Many times, the room required to land negates the ease of taking off without monkeying around with BF2's inefficient taxiing. If you want to learn how to land, watch yourself in the third person for awhile to find out when your landing gear comes into play, and what descent angle causes you to blow up.
8. Go watch those pilot ownage videos that people make. Disregard the penis-enlargement attempt, and take whatever hints you can garner from the experience.
9. BF2's physics are nowhere near comparable to a proper flight simulator's. If you want to learn how to fly in Battlefield, play Battlefield games.

Bombs
a. Dive bombing (low difficulty) - Gain some altitude, and then fly straight down at your target. Release your bombs as close or as far as you want from your target. Should it be a moving target, aim for where it will be when your bombs land. Remember: your bombs will move in the same direction and start off roughly at the same speed your plane is going. Indirect hits from fightercraft are often not enough to deal with heavy armor.  Keep practicing, and use chase front after you pull up to check where they hit.
b. Passover (medium difficulty) - For when you want your bombs to cover a wider area of terrain, just fly to your target and release at some point before you actually reach it. Remember that the bombs will start flying forward roughly at the speed you're flying before simulated gravity pulls them downward.
c. High-altitude (high difficulty) - Tired of the fighters? So was I, and that's why I bomb through the fog! You can release from passover or dive bombing angles, and the effect will be the same...if you can aim well enough. Find an empty server and get a friend to spot for you while you practice.

MG Strafing
a. You can machine guns to take out anything except tanks. Granted, sustained fire will damage them, but it take a bit of doing. Remember that bullets don't hit things instantaneously, and lead moving targets.
b. Oh, no! Your flag's being taken, and no friendlies are around...heheheheh. Make sure your flag icons are active, and start firing away at the threatened flag. Wiggle your nose around a bit to compensate for bullet drop, and you can pepper things at just about any distance. And when you get kicked for hacking, just laugh.

Hovering
a. You usually don't want to hover, even upon taking off. However, if your team is doing well and the enemy's putting up no real resistance, you can turn your american jet into an effective gunship on short order. If you're used to helicopters, this won't be much of a problem, so long as you remember that hovering doesn't provide nearly as big of an upward lift, so you won't be able to tilt or dodge nearly as quickly, and recovery can be troublesome. Your biggest worry, if your enemy is pretty much pinned, will be random M95 (relatively rare) fire, PKM's, or a random rocket, but you'll be dishing out far more than most infantry will be willing to risk. Practice this offline in the gulf of oman, targetting the construction site, it's crane, roofs, unfinished building and the various alcoves to practice moving and shooting in a hovering state.
b. Does your enemy TRULY suck? If you can get your commander to drop a box on top of a building, you can hover right next to it and use it for ammo and repairs. Additionally, you can render an alleyway or flag inaccessable by virtue of repeated bombing.

Hey! I Have a Gunner!
a. That's right! If you get into a bomber and someone jumps in with you (and knows how to shoot), they can dish out more damage than you! In addition to keeping an eye on your surrounds, they can go into a secondary viewing mode to fire laser guided missiles. These come in a pack, and as soon as one blows up, another can be fired. A single blast from one of these puppies will kill anything on a direct hit, and anything not heavily-armored will simply blow up if these land too closely. Unlike TV-guided missiles, the gunner's vision doesn't follow them, and he doesn't have to click repeatedly to correct direction. Instead, he moves his mouse around to actively change the direction of the missile. A good enough gunner can kill without a lock.
b. Your gunner can lock onto vehicles, but not aircraft (if he hits an airborne chopper or a plane, cheer for him). When you fly over a vehicle, the gunner will be getting a lock on any vehicle below, and releasing the missile is pretty much a guaranteed kill...unless something goes wrong. Sometimes, it'll be close but not direct.
c. If you want your gunner to actively kill things, then don't jink around. Whenever the plane moves, so does his view, and, thusly, his painted destination for his missiles.

Air-to-Air
a. Remember #5? This is your chance to really put it to use. The one thing many noob jet pilots will do to shake an enemy is to fly around in tight circles, repeatedly. A pro pilot will merely fly on for some distance, then turn around to engage the noob from behind his flight path. Use some variety.
b. When using your MG's, aim somewhat above your target. This has the effect of getting you used to leading, but is primarily useful because at some point, your enemy will fly upwards to gain lost altitude.
c. Look for bandits with your eyes, not your computer. AA locks will spook a target. A single, well-aimed spray of bullets will kill a jet just as dead as two missiles. But failing that, use locking to scare them into crapping out countermeasures, then turn it off until these disperse. Turn it on again and fire away. Look for them while they're reloading or flying straight to a target. The less altitude they have, the better.

I must say thanks to the advice i'm really starting to kick ass in the air. And the best part about it, it"s fun as F@$K, The only thing that really pisses me off though, is fkn n00b's standing infront of jets when you want to take off. Now i must just learn how to avoid them and i'll be up there with the big dogs BIOYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Practice steep dive bombings
-Flip turns=most efective way of dodging missiles
-Don't drop flares immediatley, wait a little bit until you know the missle is coming for sure
-I use the Logitech Extreme 3D pro as a joystick, i like it, but i don't know what anyone else has to say
-Before just flying over the aircraft carrier as PLA make sure BOTH essex's are exploded (one on the very left and one near the commander assets)
EDIT: to avoid the "DAM n00bs!!!!" as PLA just pull back up and as soon as you are going down hill then full throttle and after burners

Tip 1. Never Fly a F-35B, unless your team has Airfield

Tip 2. Use the Views F9-F12 to see what is around around

Tip 3. Go for steep dive bombs, and dont fly too low to the ground - Palm trees = J-10s worst enemy

Tip 4. Try practicing flying a LAN, not single player, cause Single player you can only fly the bombers.

Ya.. just practice.... thats how everyone learns..
You noob... That's just what we need - more stat padding J10 whores. You never get good by fuckin whorin it up in J10s. The only way you get good is by going up against better jets and developing strategies to deal with them.

Operation Clean Sweep ftw. I probably flew 50 hours on OCS before I flew in a real game. I also read Zenmaster's Wiki guide, and later Sarge's guide too.

Fwiw, I use all keyboard because I don't understand how to fly using a mouse. If I want to do an upward loop I have to keep swiping the mouse forward?

Omg, horrible advice for wake (atleast the never use F35).  Raping the J10s is the most fun, yeah you might get owned by them almost every time you fly, but it is so much more fun!

The best advice would to fly the F35 first.  I started with the J10, and it is hard to get good at the F35 now.  Had I started with the F35, I would be able to easily own in the J10, much more than I do now.  A challenge is what will make you better.

It is rewarding shooting J10 whores out of the sky in an F35. Just fly high and dive bomb if you don't want to get killed by them.
