So you shouldn't bother with your DX10 card unless you have Vista.
I remember people talking about DirectX 9.d or something supporting the DX10 features.
I think it's like this:
Vista = DX10 and DX9
XP = only DX9
I think the DX9.d you are talking about was just a rumor and it was never released.
There were some rumors about XP getting DX10, but apparently those are not true:Gawwad wrote:

Anyone heard of any news on the OpenGL version of DX10 for XP that someone was working on a while back? I can't find the damn thing now, hope it's not been cancelled, I don't want Vista, it smells funny.
Both look very nice, but cant really see big differences
It looked pretty similar to me.
You might be able to tell the difference in HD video rather than youtube, but it does look similar, bar the light rays coming through the trees.
No, it will be fine dude...I'm getting an XFX 8800GTS 320MB (FINAL decision, im not changing anymore), it will play crysis no problem.JoshCooper wrote:

If it does run, it'll be on the lowest settings IMHO.teek22 wrote:

IF it is true I can play it with min settings. But IMO I think the Recomended Requirements will Become the Minimum or the minimum will be even higher than that.
There will be DX10 servers and DX9 servers so if you have a buddy who has DX10 and you have DX9 you wont be able to play together
I dont know about that.....surely its the same game just that on your PC it'll be different level of graphics?Profitteroles wrote:

I had a quick look for stuff after I posted that, and OpenGL 3.0 will have a lot of the same features that DX10 does and will work on XP, now just have to hope some good games come with OpenGL support, up-coming Unreal games almost certainly will but apart from that I don't know.
9) I've heard that Crysis will have seperate servers for DX9 and DX10 players. Does this mean I won't be able to play with my friends if they have DX10 and I don't?buLLet_t00th wrote:

No, you'll be able to play with or against your friend. There are two ways of making this possible. Either you upgrade your graphics card and operating system, or you tell your friend to put their game into DX9 mode. Those with DX10 have the advantage as they can play on both DX10 and DX9 servers where as those still using DX9 are restricted to playing only on DX9 servers.
So I was right?Profitteroles wrote:

It is true, the guy that was trying to bring DX9 IIRC to Linux is doing it. Just he didn't get so far with the last project, so I'm doubting it'll actually have it.OrangeHound wrote:

Saying you didnt think there will be 2 types of servers
So I quoted this which clearly states there will be 2 types so i'm wondering what part you think you're right about?

If you have built yourself a top of the range kick arse system with a couple of 8800's ready to play crysis on its top notch settings why on earth would you then install uninstall DX10 to install DX9 and loose all the quality?
You wouldn't need to, like you said before if you have DX10 then you can play against people who have DX9, do you even get what you're saying?Profitteroles wrote:

And has this actually been confirmed, or is it just in one of those Q&A's that random game sites put up?
This is off of the crysis-online website and while you can play on DX9 servers you would have to switch to DX9 therefore you would both be running DX9 thus loosing all the detail and features of DX10, Anyway my original point was that there are going to be 2 types of servers which you thought there wasn’t going to be.buLLet_t00th wrote:

Until I actually see it on the official EA site, I'm gonna take it witha pinch of salt. Even if it does this, most people who buy Crysis and play it daily online will have the DX10 cards, so there wont be a shortage of people playing it.Profitteroles wrote:
