8800 GTX Power Supply Question

What will I need......

I have a 460W so I know fo'sho' I need a bigger one.

I'm looking at an 850W one at the moment (http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Oth … ctId=26890), basically, what do I need? Can I manage with any less? I don't want to be excessive but I also don't want to starve the card or any other of my components for power.

(I'm not planning on SLI'ing it by the way).

more info about ur psu? I can't tell if it's enough before that but I would suggest getting a new PSU if your current one is not good quality. you DON'T need 850w for one card. I have 750w and it's enough for 8800GTX SLi . For one card >500w PSU is more than enough. Have a look at this corsair PSU. It is just what you need. high-quality and quiet. winner of many reviews.

I'm defiantly upgrading my PSU, that's not debatable, just what wattage I need basically.

About 650W then maybe?

that Corsair HX620w is enough for you. (one gfx card)

The minimum reccommended for an 8800 GTX is 500watts, but thats a really good quality one. You'll also need a PSU that has 2 PciE power plugs for just the one card, and 4 if you're going to have SLi.

On a 520 (Corsair) I'm running:

3 Hard Drives
3 Fans
2 Optical Drives
ATI X1900XT

.. and I am well within the recommended amount. So if you aren't going SLi, 520w should be fine!

Same little problem here, some of u might have seen my nwe rig im geting, just wanted to see if a

TAGAN TG-700 DUAL ENGINE PSU would be enough for :

8800GTX Overclock to around 620/2100
1 HDD
3 Optical Drives
4 x 120mm fan (with Blue LED), 1 x 240mm fan + CPU fan.
E6600 at 3.2/3.6
Is it enough?

The AMPS are critical. Check how many amps your card requires (30A) and make sure the PSU has it. Cheaps ones won't.

Right... the 8800 I'm looking at says it needs "A 475W power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 32A or more".

The one I'm looking at is 750W (so that's ok) and says "Input Current 115VAC / 10A max. 230VAC / 5A max."

Whatever that means.

Could you/someone help me out! Is that ok?

EDIT: just found out that it also says this "Next generation four +12V rails(12V1, 12V2, 12V3, 12V4) supports high-end graphic card and PC system (combined loading of 60A)" so that's ok then?! (I think!)

I think I read somewhere that the Ultra has had its guts updated and therefore doesn't use as much power as a GTX.

thermaltake psu? 750w is more than enough. get it. I have a 750w PSU and that wattage is enough even for 8800 Ultra SLi

The total power of a system (wattage) is made up of AMPS. Most good-branded PSUs have multiple 12V rails - the rail that handles your graphics cards etc. Most now have 2 or sometimes even 4! There will be a certain number of amps on each 12V rail. Check out the back of the PSU and read it! You want at least 30A on the 12V Rail, 40 to be safe.

Yes, that is fine. I just got an 8800GTS (which is awesome, by the way) and after too much searching through messageboards I learned that you just add up the 12V Amp ratings and the total has to be higher than 26 (for the gts), or 32 your card apparently. So 60 is easily enough.
