got a 8600 GTS card, i installed the lastest patch but the game crahes, it loads the starting BF2logo,then goes black then fails to load the game, any suggestions?
I'm very tempted to put an "OWNED" picture.

My computer does that, the picture of a tank comes up then it goes off and doesn't load.

Could someone tell me why the 8600 GTS sucks?
8600 GTS is a pretty weak card, a lot of quite older cards out perform it ATM, hence Sarges comment.
As for fixing your problem, kill the BF2 folder in my docs and run the game again, you'll have to recover your account again (and re-do your controls) but it should work. Did for me anyway on the 2 occasions I've changed my gfx card and it's done that.

I am kinda like a n00b on this subject, but I just saw a 8600 GTS with a core speed of 730mhz and mem speed of 2260 mhz, while my 7600 GT only has a core speed of 570 mhz and a mem speed of 1400 mhz, so thats the 8600 GTS is better right?TheEternalPessimist wrote:

I'd imagine it'd perform quite a bit better yeah, I don;t think it fares so well against top end DX9 cards though, I could be wrong I havn't looked too closly at it to be honest.

I've had a VERY quick look and it seems I'm totally wrong lol, it's a pretty good card, the lack of RAM on that one worries me though, not much good for high resolutions IMO.

8600gts has 128bit memory interface. that's why it sucks bollox. even my radeon X800XT PE has 256bit memory interface and kicks 8600 ass

i was in the middle of writing a whole shpeel on why your wrong. But, i just saw it said 8600gts not 8800gts. However youll enjoy the card regardless fo what people say. Its not a wimpy card
