Is there a 'switch to last weapon used button' in BF2?  Something similar to what the 'Q' button does in Half Life.  If not could you give me some tips on how to switch weapons quickly other than using the number keys or mouse wheel (which for some reason I take an eternity doing).

I sometimes will map the 'F' key to either the pistol or knife depending on what badge I am working on.

What about you expert medics out there, how do you switch between the paddles, first-aid kits and weapons quickly.

I use an 8 button mouse. (MX518)
The button above and below the scroll wheel are my primary gun and grenades respectively.
The button below the nade button is my kit specific button (med pack/C4 etc.)
My 2 thumb buttons are zoom and sprint
Left-click is fire and right-click for me is jump (it's just what I'm used to)
Scroll wheel button in is reload (you could always make that button your shock paddles)

I was very tempted to get a 10 button mouse but I'm too used to the layout of the MX510/MX518's and didn't feel like re-learning a new layout.

I agree with far, ive got a 5 botton mouse and it makes it alot easier to switch guns etc.

With most Wheel Mice (mouses?), pressing down on the wheel should give you "Mouse Button 3".

You can assign this to the pistol either in game or outside of BF2 by using the mouse driver to send a number "2" to the game when you click the wheel...

I've got mine set up for the Knife! and was called a sneaky stabbing c**t yesterday by quickly switching to the blade whilst an enemy squad were desperately trying to reload/revive and I wiped out all four of them

i do the same thing, it is so nice.  I usally play as a sniper and I shoot and I whip out my pistol and smoke em it pisses off so bad lol
