If anything, religion requires more faith in a text or man-made system of belief than in the deity or deities it purports to worship. It's far easier to believe that a divine being of some sort exists than that any human culture has correctly assessed what this being really is.
Therefore, religion is mostly a pipe dream. I distrust people far too much to believe in the ideas they so fervently proselytize others with.
