I have played BF2 since the release of the demo, yet this weapon never ceases to amaze me-- and not just in a good way.
It is a headshot magnet...despite the fact that it is horribly inaccurate. Whenever I engage an enemy, every shot will miss except one killing headshot. On the receiving end, I'll often be running around at full health and then *poof*, I drop down dead only to see it was a single noiseless round to the head from an L85.
I get headshots with this weapon even when I'm not aiming at the head, but that's not what truly amazes me. 99% of the time it feels like I'm firing blanks. Against a stationary target, at medium to close range, and firing tight controlled bursts (sometimes single shot), EVERY shot will miss. Whether or not I win the engagement relies on the timeliness of that lucky headshot. Additionally, I've done some thorough testing and have deduced that while proned, you cannot hit another proned target at the same elevation with the L85.
