Why give up now?

Makes no sense - I'm sure someone would fund her efforts.

(There's an opening on The View...j/k)

No seriously, all the things she cited as reasons to quit where things she had to realize before starting the vigil in the first place (although the financial thing is just bullshit...imo)...so why quit now?

Pain is a powerful motivator, but temporary.

ive been pretty consistent
I've seen in both your responses to threads on the Iraq war and fighting inside Iraq of those who have not served.  I'm not faulting you for saying it, because it did need to be said.  What I am saying is to take some of your won advice and if you're never been in that particular situation, try to understand what that individual is experiencing and why are they feeling what they feel.  It will help your argument.  Bitch, Cunt Whore, are words used by those who don't bother to use the mind that God gave them.  You're either part of the problem or part of the solution, it's your choice.
i feel, because of her actions, that I felt more of a loss by her son's death than she does.  He was a fellow CAV trooper.  We were in the same division during the same deployment, a part of Task Force Baghdad so i know exactly the kind of world he was living in.  Be vocal against the war.GRAVY! that is your constitutional right.  but dont be so transparent as she was.  I could see the insincerity leaking from her pores.  Freedom of Speech means I can vent my feelings about this woman.  I thank her for producing the the greatest of individuals, but thats where it ends.  And i could frigging gauruntee, whether for or against the war or bush or republicans, the majority of my fellow soldiers feel the exact same way.

im sorry, there is no excuse for her kind of grieving.  thats like breaking up with the girl you love and finding out she let 20 guys bang her the next day to get over you.  it just shows the true character when someone acts the way this person (sheehan) did.

I didnt agree with her on much, but at least she took alot of slung shit and kept  going and faced her opponents openly.   Alot of people have the balls to shit all over her, but on an anonymous forum.

I can't fathom the pain of losing one's child.  For that, I feel very sorry for her.  I heartily condemn the path she took after loosing her son.  I read part of her book (something like "10 Reasons not to join the military").  The impression I got from that was her deep pain basically destroyed her life.  While I think it is unfortunate and somewhat pathetic that her loss morphed into something that cost her a marriage and many friendships, she used her pain to advance political causes.  That, to me, is despicable.

As for Sheehan, I feel a little sorry for her, she has made such a spectacle of herself. But at least she might go away now.
I view it as a definitive end to the days where one person could make a difference in this country.  With everything either controlled by a)corporations, b)unions, or c)government, the days of the little man are at an end.

Now we just sit back and and wait for the next Teddy Roosevelt to come along with his soft voice and big stick to empower the individual once more.
Pretty much...  although I was a bigger fan of Franklin Roosevelt.
