Whenever bf2 doesn't boot, crash back to desktop, show pre-game window then nothing. there are 3 solutions to your problems.
1. Repatch bf2 to latest patch, this fixes most annoying crashes
2. Re-install BF2 (yes it sux) then patch back to latest patch
3. The worst nightmare to all pc users: formatting.
other issues:
connection problem: Remember, Bf2 does not support 56k modem or anything slower than 128kbps internet connection. When u play on a punkbuster server and says you've been kicked for "no packets recieved" this means punkbuster has not been installed.
Graphics: download the latests graphics drivers for your VGA cards. If BF2 crashes your pc after you launch it, download 3Dmark series benchmark, run it and see if it crashes your comp too; if it does then re-connect your vga card and this should do the trick
