ok, i just started bf2, and have not found much on newbie tweaking for fps.. My game runs a little choppy and my system specs are as follows:
Intel core 2 duo 2.0GHz
2 GB RAM
7400 GeForce GO
160GB Hard drive
dsl connection

I am familiar with tweaking FPS in CS and CS:S. What is a good constant rate in BF2 and what are the comands?

game.lockfps 0 - unlocks fp from 100

renderer.drawfps 1 - shows fps in game

as for a number, well i got a FX-62 and 2Gb of RAM with a x1950XT and i get around a good 150 FPS on Inf

You can't tweak BF2 nearly as much as you can in CS. Pretty much all you can tweak is the in game graphics options.

Everything low
native resolution (Or whatever you feel comfortable with)
Geometry and view distance on high and 100%.

On a completely unrelated note: I saw a nerdy kid punch a guy with ADD today because the guy with ADD was telling everyone that the nerdy kid had a boner in history when we were watching the movie Phar lap. And he did which was the funny thing.
