My current specs: AMD 3600 @ 1.73, 512mb RAM, and im not sure what graphics card, but it pretty shit

A mates mother works in a computer shop and ive been in there a couple of times and have narrowed my search to these 2, which do you pro's think is the best value for money?

Option 1: Optima,  Intel core 2duo @ 1.86 Ghz, 2GB of RAM 320GB sata2 HDD, nVidia gforce FX7300GS with 256 mb onboard memory and windows Vista Home premium, which will cost me $1599 (au)

Option 2: Optima, Intel core 2duo @ 2.13, 2GB of RAM, 360 GB sata2 HDD, nvidia gforce FZ7300GS with 265mb onboard memory, optima gaming mouse and windows vista home premium which will cost me $1799 (au)

Will BF2 run on vista, because ive heard some people say BF2 runs on vista fine, and others say it doesnt, And what is a possilbe graphics card upgrade, ive googled reveiws on the one listed above and apparently its OK, nothing special but OK, which is better value in you opinion?

The second one is obviously a better computer, but you're definitely going to want to upgrade that video card.  I'd recommend a 7800GT at the minimum for right now.

They don't make 7800GT's anymore. Get a 7900GS or 7950GT mininum.

Im guessing these are pre built systems.

TBH those GFX cards suck. As TMo said, 7800GT minimum - heck its been out for ages they're not expensive.

Does your friend sell separate parts, as you are more likely to build a better system yourself.

You can still find them on ebay and everything though, and really it isn't a bad card.  It'll easily run BF2 at max graphics settings.

I usually work from around 3pm-1am, so I go on when I get home from work.  Last night I didn't get home until around 4am and tomorrow (sunday, rather) I'm working from 11a-7p, so I should be on earlier.

...so yeah.

Vista or not, you wouldn't be pleased with that gfx card anyways.
If you need a pre-built system, tell us your budget and we'll find one for you

$1800!? That's something you call tight? Hey, you can have a nice rig from ibuypower.com or from dell.com for this money!

Look here what I'd have chosen

Well, I'd build it myself anyway, but as he apparently doesn't want to - what's the problem with them?

So 1500USD are still 1800AUD. Well, for $1,500 you still should be able to get a nice system.

Incredibly reliable. I am not sure if they ship internationally.
No, it is in GBP ( United Kingdom Pounds ).

I think it is a bit off your budget.

Both way overpriced, thanks but no thanks to your mates mom

If you can build yourself, go for MSY they aren't the most professional but are definitely the cheapest in aus.

for $1800 you can get an awesome PC.

E6600 - $302
8800GTS 320MB - $422 (can probably find for cheaper)
2GB Corsair RAM - $115
Thermaltake Soprano VX - $127
iGreen 500W PSU - $121
Mobo - ~$200
Seagate 320GB - $101

total so far: #1,388

so you can get a more expensive case and/or GPU as well as a good mouse keyboard combo.....

edit: need a monitor?
