Just keep reading it over and over, in your head, and out loud.

when i memorize i just start with the first few lines and get that down well, then just add one line at a time till im done. It takes forever but memorizing just sucks in general.

Oh and writing it out can help too.

[*]grouping and association

think of pictures/motions/actions so you can associate them with whatever you are trying to remember

/how i memorized 100 decimal places of pi (picturing sequences of numbers on a keypad and chunking them into a pattern)

as others have said - read it, out loud is best - copy it out, whilst reading it - also, try 'reciting it out loud', from memory - give it to someone else to read along (to themselves) with you so they can prompt if required - but don't allow them to prompt you too much - that way you know which bits you need to concentrate on, rather than just trying to 'remember the whole thing' each time.

That's only usefull if you've previously memorised the picture/motion/action associations. And as I'm sure you know, it takes a lot of practice before you can use it effectively.

I think the most usefull techniques for Canadian would be 'chunking' (splitting things into smaller chunks - don't memorize the 'whole thing' - memorize a series of 'chunks') and 'feedback' (get an audience - i.e. someone to read along with you).

maybe - maybe not.
i was thinking the associations would be memorized WITH the material as one story, if you will.  the 'story' doesn't have to be memorized before hand, because if you make it up to help you remember the material, it is just being used as a visual association.

[*]example

need to memorize: part of your monologue includes...three stories (one about the military, one about pilots, and one about campfires).

picture in your head...a military jet (reminding you of the military) with a pilot saluting his crew chief (which reminds you of your story about pilots) and now picture the jet taking off with afterburners (reminding you of campfires).

if you put the entire image in your head as a movie scene or a commercial or something you have creatively connected your points with your visual story.  i'd be willing to bet that later tonight, when you reflect on your posts in today's forum...,you will still remember this image and its connections.

so, find major parts of your monologue that you can connect together and create an image.

Had to do the same for my German. I found cutting it into short paras, learning key words from each para, then repeating them over and over til word perfect works a treat, and i also find physically writing it all out again and again til its word perfect works. It all depends how you as a person learn

Well, I have found that the best way to memorize stuff is by putting it to a song, then again I'm from a musical family so if your not have fun with it
