UPDATE: I removed ipv6, internet works, problems still the same. added new screenshot of ipconfig.

I don't know how it happened, the only thing I want to know is: how do I undo the tunneling thingy.

problem: I can connect to the Internet, get on msn and TS and play bf2 online. But whenever I try to start xfire/steam i get an connection error. I typed ipconfig /all in command-prompt, did some research and came to this conclusion: somehow an thing called "Automatic tunneling pseudo-interface" is enabled, I have no idea what it is, and what it does, but i do know it is screwing something up.

It seems as though you are trying to use IPV6. Are you on XP?

You should be using IPV4.

I think the problem is XP and all your net hardware (router / modem) will be configured with IPV4 - which uses the standard 192.168.0.1 type IPs, but you seem to be trying to use IPV6 which uses something completely random with numbers and letters (me thinks) - so they are not for a better word, "compatible".

Ive never heard of this happening though. When did you notice the problem? What have you recently un/installed?

EDIT: Try this,

To uninstall IPV6
1. Open Command Prompt.
2. Type ipv6 uninstall, and then press ENTER.

already tried that, didn't work. And I don't know when the problems started either.
How do I install ipv4 then?

Start > Right click "My Computer" > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager.

Look for Automatic tunneling pseudo-interface, TC/IP, any exclamation marks etc.

If there is, right click > Uninstall (or roll back).

Also just seach google for Automatic tunneling pseudo-interface

Hmm... I opened up my Vista virtual machine (gotta love em), ran ipconfig, and i too have Automatic tunneling pseudo-interface enabled - but this is Vista which is supposed to support IPV6 - so it should work.

However IPV4 is safer atm. You are using XP right?

Isn't it because you've got NetBios disabled?
