So... contrary to Soviet doctrine, the Russians now want 'unlicensed' AK-47 production stopped...?

Nevermind that the design is 60 years old, and that the rest of the world dismisses Soviet patents.
If someone gave a patent on the AK reciever, they are insane.

The US cracks the shits over IP breaches in Asia despite the fact that they don't recognise those laws.

Soviet doctrine was to mass-produce them by the billion and ship them out to anywhere communist. It's actually really unsuited for small-scale production due to the stampings.
Ironically, the M16 is perfect for small workshops due to milled parts aplenty.

I don't like all of the recient activity in Russia.  Many of their recient actoins have been related in some way to military technology...

Almost half of all NATO member countries have yet to sign intellectual property rights protection agreements with Russia, including Lithuania, Latvia, Canada, Iceland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Norway.
Because Iceland and Canada are such hotbeds of AK-47 production....
