Here's a serious question: Why is polygamy illegal?
I've never quite understood the Mormon religion, and while I also don't understand why someone would willingly enter a polygamous relationship, I don't see it really being the government's business to tell consenting adults that they can't form a polygamous marriage.
What rational (a.k.a. - non-religious) reasons are there to keep polygamy illegal? Shouldn't it be allowed in the U.S. if we are to call ourselves a free country?
For those of you outside of the U.S., feel free to respond as well. I'm assuming most of us here live in countries where polygamy is illegal.
