I am about to build a computer and I'm pretty new to this whole concept.  I've run into two video cards that I'm considering buying that are similar in price, but I don't know which to buy...

The 7600 has more memory, but the 8600 has DX10 and is from a higher series.

Which of these two is the better card?

Thanks

the 7600GT is a good card, you will be able to run bf2 at high and the price is not bad

Having 512m VRAM with a 128bit interface is a HAMPER, get the 8600, but theyre both crap cards TBH. Spend the extra buck and get an x1950pro, x1900xt, 8800gts, 7950GT, Etc. Work harder, leech off your parents more, whatever, seriously.

7600. Getting a high-end notebook video card is useless as they cannot be replaced.

The best bang for buck card I would recommend to any is the 8800GTS320MB.

the 8800gts should be around the $200-$220 range in early july or in the fall.

Wrong thread, yeah - whoops!

An 8600 I'd go for. With the $30 difference and all the positive reviews, the 8600 would be my choice.

8600 unless you can put the extra for an 8800GTS 320Mb
