Play the trial (which sucks) right in front of his face and loudly shout suggestive remarks such as "BOY! THIS GAME SURE IS BORING AND UN-FUN!!!" Then make him buy you Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall (better games) that are all really fun and have NO scubscription fee.

It's my birthday tomorrow and my brother plans to buy me WoW, the expansion, and a small subscription fee. I like RPG's but I have no desire to play WoW, or even try it out. A tried to give him subtle hints, and even tell him out right, but he's not having it. He insists that I'll like it so I must try it.

How do I get him to understand?! I refuse to play WoW and I don't want him wasting his money...

Hey omnideath.... dont play that game, trust me.. i regret i ever did, got me a level 60 paladin for nothing...

that game is just too adictive, 10 times more addictive than Bf2.. there are videos out there on the web even youtube with morons playing 12 to 18 hours straight , kids also have bad attitudes who play these games...

the worst thing than illegal drugs is world of warcrack/ craft.

Tell him to start playing Silkroad Online, its a free download off of their site (www.silkroad.com, I believe) you can both play too, lots of levels and stuff. You don't have to pay per month either, or any time for that matter. I play it, my bro and some friends play it, it's fun!

well, im supposed to hang out with him tonight, so we'll see how this goes. i dont want to be a dick and ask him to return it, but i know im never gonna play it. not to mention i cant afford the fee, which is why i started playing guild wars in the first place.

It sounds like your brother would be really happy to have you just accept WoW. If youre worried about the cost, tell him theres enough to explore in regular WoW, and that he should wait with the expansion.
I would definitely not tell him NOT to get you WoW.

i feel bad not wanting to play it because i cant hangout with him much since i went to college so i think he sees it as a way we can...i just have no interest in the game.

You could send it to the children in africa, then it wouldn't be a total waste of your brothers money =\

Is your brother younger than you?

Didnt realise he intended to buy it for that reason. I think i would be fair to him: tell him he can do with his money whatever he likes, but he has to know you cant always hang out with him because of college.
I used to be in the same situation with my older brother. When he left for college i hardly saw him anymore. Tried online gaming too for a while, but he was too busy. Instead we just agreed to do 'stuff' whenever he had spare time: play cards, go to the cinema, ...

Just tell him no.
Or accept it and bring it to a friends house and purposely forget it there.

I thought long and hard how you can avoid WOW. I came to one sensible conclusion; kill your brother before he gives you the birthday present

As for those of you who wanted to hear my not quite so serious solution, it was:

Destroy the internets, but hten I realised it was serious business

Yeah, I was in the same situation with my brother, a current player, wanted me to try it. I was under the same impression as a few of the idiots in this thread, that whoever plays WoW has no life and don't know what a good game is.

Well, I tried it. That idea quickly changed. I still have friends, I still have a life, and I'm in the 8th best guild on US PvE realms, top 50 worldwide.

I suggest you try it.

only problem is when you get addicted to much. my room mate actually talks to his online wow buddies more then he talks to me....i feel sadden by this. he thinks a bag of popcorn is dinner while he plays wow
