Ok, so i don't know what happened but at some point, firefox stopped showing me how long it has to download stuff. When i start a download, it just shows me a blank bar of emptiness until it finishes downloading, the only problem is that i can't tell if something started downloading in the first place, so at times i just wait for hrs until i give up and try again. Is there anyway to fix this?
How long has this been happening for?
Are you on the latest version?

#1 um... idk a month maybe? it's always bugged me but i figured it would fix itself so i didn't say anything, lol
#2 yeah, i get the auto update thing every once in awhile, i did a couple days ago even

Have you tried completely un-installing it and then re-installing it?
kinda of a work around, but install this ...https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26
It actually makes it so you dont have to see that other window to see progress, just puts in the bar at the bottom. Its always been a good addon.

It could be the server that you are downloading from, which is giving you the bad rates.
hmm, i guess, but i've downloaded from there before
*tries something new*
lol, it works

I would reinstall firefox if I were you. Just make sure you export your bookmarks first and than when you install again you import them back in.
Also if you do a lot of downloading from web sites I recommend getting a download manager. They offer better resume possibility and in some cases they can increase you download speed drastically by connecting to the same site couple of times.
If I site offers a download limit of 30 kb/s a download manager can connect to it 10 times and get your speed up to 300 kb/s. This of course depends on the site.
You can get a free on that gets good ratings (but I never tried it) at
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/
I use "getright" that I got the illegal way.
