Getting BASIC Command

OK so I've put in a decent amount of command time. A few patches ago I got basic command and the INSTANT I did.. BF2 went down all over the united states for a few hours. My command badge was not awarded - lucky me. Since then I haven't been able to get 40 points. Got 30 or 35 a couple times but never 40. In fact I normally don't see very many people get it.

I play as a good commander I think. Stay devoted to the command screen, repair my own assets as engineer, use UAVs smartly and rarely TK with arty. Spot lone wolfs and all of the no brainer stuff - but how do I get basic command?

What can I do to get those few more points to bring me up to 40? Occasionally, if needed and it's close or CRUCIAL I will cap a flag (or if the flag im at is being capped I of course take care of it myself). Seems like cap points and points from kills aren't awarded. So what can I do?

play in a half (or less than half) empty 64player server. the round will last very very long, letting your team mates accrue many points, thus pushing your points (their average) way up.
2 nights ago i had my best commander score of 137 after the 2x.

I thought this badge was pretty easy. Two ways to get it.

1. Actually be a good commander. IMO, good maps for commandering are Wake island, Sharqi and Karkand (Karkand is good if you use the supply drop well).

2. Be commander, but don't command. Just vehicle-whore or something. I do not reccomend this as much as the first, but if you have to, mutinies don't work very often anyways.

man im going for 50 points so that is fun but try to find servers with about 30 peopel in them . that works most of the time.

Thanks for the tips! I had tried the half way full server thing before but gave up on it after a while. I stayed in one with about 40 people for a couple hours and on my fourth round commanding got 41 points and both my basic and vet command badges, thanks for the tips guys.

ahh.... the non-full servers light the stats up again. I've only played on non-full servers twice. I just don't think it's fun.

it may not be fun, but its the best way to get them. just go for a round. i've had a commander score over 150 after 2x on a half full server.

I had 102 on 16\64 players server, before the 2x. We almost won
Well, atleast I met the People's Medallion thanks to that

I earned Basic Command and Staff Officer in the same round on a nearly empty Sharqi. The first minutes I helped out capping flags but then the server filled up and I did command only.
