How long would you like to live? I saw an article in the newspaper about a 100 year-old married to a 95 year-old celebrating their 78th anniversary. That sure is damn convenient that both the partners are still alive, but even so I don't think I'd like to live that long. At this point in my life, I can go anywhere with it; the world is my oyster. I'd like to get a job, raise a family, retire and enjoy my later years. I do not look forward to getting "old" at all though. My maternal grandparents are one reason why not. As I grew up, I watched my grandfather struggle with health issues and limited mobility which seems an agonizing life to me. I'd hate to have a stroke at 70 and live to 100 like that, 30 years where there is little you can do. Yet I see other old folks rolling around town in classic Corvettes and the like. I'd like to live as long as possible, but not beyond the point where living in itself inhibits your lifestyle.

An interesting point to note is that our life expectancy changes for every additional year that we live. Example: A male in Australia has a life expectancy of 78 years. But at age 60 the life expectancy of a male is 21 years for a total of 81 years. Most people only think of life expectancy from date of birth. To answer your question I'd be really happy with 80 years.

I think with today's medical advancements and my money, I think I can live to 250 to 300 years old. [/Ricky Bobby ]

On all seriousness, I'm shooting for 80 years old, hell I have a great grandmother at 88, I don't see why I can't reach that

For us it would be awesome if we were old or not. Just think about how amazing games and movies would be. Who's to say when we get old we'd hate it all? We've grown up accustomed to rap and violence, whether that means the end of society or a really cool future for us oldies is not known. Hopefully the latter, can't imagine how shit will be when i'm 80. Here's hoping there's not a nuclear war. I may not be able to walk, but i'd still be able to use a mouse and/or keyboard.

There is only so much you can do in life. I would like to live along time, somethings I wanna live for ever, I mean, then you would have time to figure out all the answers, but then really, what about what happens, everyone you know dies off and you dont. How would that feel, being the only one left?

had enough already...
If I could skip forward 10 years at a time it would be fun to see how things progress....
.... but day-to-day life (or should I say work) just becomes a drag

I think I'll just do this:
I'll leave a not behind to any remaining people in my family (kids, wife, grandkids) - "If I'm too old to communicate successfully with someone, kill me". I don't want to become like my step-granddad, who has recently died. He had a stroke and a heart attack around when he was 75-80, and by the age of 87 he couldn't talk without clear difficulty. When he turned 95, he had another stroke, which then pretty much turned him a vegetable. It was already bad enough not being recognized after his first stroke, and barely being able to talk to him, but just seeing him lie there, eyes wide open with nothing to say....
I don't ever want to be like that.

I'm shooting for... 6.3 Million years, at which point I will leave behind my physical body and exist as pure energy.  At least, 6.3 million years better be enough time to get that whole ascension thing down.  Those damned religious zealots just need to stfu and those biologists need to get on the ball with cloning and consciousness transferal.

The key to living a long life is exercise and diet.  Really, when your young, you should be out enjoying the world as much as you can; not sitting in front of the computer playing video games.  There is plenty of time for that when you get old.  Besides, games/computers will be much better then....

My grandfather is 90 and his sister is 95. I live in a country with pretty high life expectancy, but that is just figures. I just hope I'll have good health when I get old.

Apparently, smoking is doesn't affect everyone as badly: my grandfather smoked for 40 years. He's now over 80 years old, and still playing golf, tennis and skiing... I want to be like him some day >.<
Oh, and about the diet: he has my grandmother cook for him, who is the best cook I know
