Yeah, like I said, they were coming from Thermaltake cases which would fit my computer, IN it's case and a small child... LOL... I hate having to help them move those things to and from LAN parties... lol... But anyway, I was just wanting to give you a heads up on their complaints. I thought it was a nice looking case myself, and considered buying one until I saw it was tool-less.Poseidon wrote:

It's a little late unfortunately. I looked at the reviews on Newegg and they were good, so I went for it.
I could always put it up on eBay though...
I don't know what these people were talking about with cramped spaces... Theres plenty of room to work around inside of it..
And the fans are for cooling your hard drives.. They have racks that they sit on.
But you can remove them.
I'll probably keep them in, I just don't like only having only 3 5.25" externals. Only gives me room for one more optical drive because I have a floppy drive.
Already bought the memory. I heard Patriot eXtreme is awesome.Kurazoo wrote:

I am. I'm selling those two and buying a C2D and a 680i.HITNRUNXX wrote:
Thought you were going with the EVGA 680i mobo?

Holy crap. 3 times? Damn.HITNRUNXX wrote:
Ah, ok... By the way... I spent a lot of money on "High End" ram, and am very happy with it. A friend bought the Patriot for his system because it was so much cheaper... The difference between the two is very minor... Just wanted to let you know that people might recommend "better" memory, but the Patriot is actually really good... Made me feel a little silly for spending almost 3 times as much... LOL...
2 gigs Corsair Dominator Series plus about 6 months ago = $279... lolPoseidon wrote:

Well, exactly. I don't need SUPAH FAST L33T HAX0R MEMORYZ. I just need a good 2 gigs that'll be damn good for gaming and shit.
75 bucks now for 2 gigs of DDR2800. Patriot's teh sex.
This is nice... I have my DVD-ROM which is basically my BF2 drive, lol, then I have my burner... I don't ever take out the BF2 disc unless I need the drive for something else... lol...-101-InvaderZim wrote:
You might want to get another dvd-rom drive tho (doesnt have to be a writer) - saves HEAPS of time and is VERY convenient

NO BAD 680i, get a 965 mobo, futureproof with DDR3 and DDR2 memory, with 45nm cpu support too!Poseidon wrote:

That's it. I can not WAIT. I have a few questions though.
1. Will Vista 64 Bit OEM System Builders Edition (Home Premium) run any different than a normal one? Or is it just for one use only?
2. For the RAM, do I put them next to each other, or in alternate slots?
3. If I ever wanna go SLi (which i doubt...too much money), do I just add the card it? What do I have to do to make my OS recognize the second GPU?
If i have any more questions, I'll add them on.
* I'm selling my AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ and 590i mobo for a C2D and 680i.
I think you mean P35 chipset. I dont think you can get them in the US at the moment though.SoC./Omega wrote:

DDR3 Isn't gonna be mainstream till 2009. Stick with the 680i.buLLet_t00th wrote:

It'll become mainstream next year. It'll take longer to integrate than DDR2, but that only took a few months after mass production to get into the mainstream.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

Do you know how much DDR3 fucking costs to produce? Around 5 TIMES more expensive. That is to produce the chip (10usd per chip compared to 1.8 of DDR2)buLLet_t00th wrote:

The main reason its expensive is becasue hardly anyone is making it! Its the same with all technology, if hardly anyone is making something its going to be expensive. Thats why I was talking about mass production on my post above, and thats happening at the end of this year.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

DDR3 will be mainstream totally in 2009, in 2008 it'll still be expensive as fuck.

Yeah, I'm gonna stick with the 680i. A P35 with two PCI-E x16 slots (for if i ever wanna go SLi, which i probably will once I my job kicks in) is massively expensive. I'm not very worried about DDR3 right now. I don't need the newest stuff, just the stuff that'll run BF2 and Crysis on good settings. And I'm getting that.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

I only have two gigs...Zimmer wrote:
Ok. One thing here. 4GB of RAM is not recommended. Especially "not so good" RAM.
XP and Vista still cannot handle 4GB well. At All. You will have problems with the RAM and mobo working well. The best you can get is 3GB. 4GB wont work too well, or will not work at all. Unless you get very good RAM and have checked that 4GB is perfectly compatible with the mobo.
Honestly. It's a waste of money.

I wouldn't be suprised if AMD goes bankrupt and we see the rise of Sun Microsystems. Just remember you heard it here first!cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

To Bullet:
I know tech grows and things become cheaper, this is speculation that DDR3 won't be really mainstream until it becomes better and when AMD uses it (DDR/ DDR2 era).
