i recall i got my bf2 on the 2nd day it came out and i am still a noob.
edit: i only started on "ranked" servers after a few weeks after i got bf2 because i was scared of the "points system"
But now I think Ranked>>>>>>>>>>>>>Unranked.
Damn, today I have played BF2 for 2 years. I enrolled on 2005-6-12
I'd say 1383 hours of fun is worth the $50 that it cost.

I enrolled on 2005-06-15 18:14:00 to play the demo. I remember this is when I realized that my Geforce 2 MX 400 card was not going to cut it anymore and went out and bought a ATI 9800. Oman was so much fun in the demo. I loved the fact that it had mobile AA even though AA was pretty much useless back then. I think a linebacker would be a great addition to Oman now.....
8th Oct 2005 for me
lol ya i know. on ranked servers it seems everyone fights more seriously and are more vicious. not to mention you fight your best too to gain points to unlock your rifles.doctastrangelove1964 wrote:

Gotta love those days, shame that I discovered them too late, only managed to play in such a way for a few weeks. Was fun though, one good pilot, 3 repair guys, 2 medics and resupply. Killer points!Missionless wrote:
God I remember the 1.02 and when I would just sit in a F4-6 seat in BH's on Mastuur and get 200 points from capping and repairing.. good days.
Believe me, if you are playing a scrim, you're never going to get any more serious than that!lol ya i know. on ranked servers it seems everyone fights more seriously and are more vicious.

Am I the only one with an enrollment date of June 10th?
A scrim isn't serious compared to a matchRDMC(2) wrote:

Played it a lan cafe from august/september ish till jan '06 when I got a decent pc and started properly playing then. Played for about a year, but now it's pretty much over for me.
The 16th of June is when I enrolled, in a couple of days it will be 2 years for me!
Ah I remember it clearly! Got the 6800 GT OC video card and installed the demo, loved it so i bought the game, but when i installed the game i had to update the motherboard and processor, double the ram, buy a better powersupply! Fuck I coulda just bought a new PC!

I had first heard about BF2 from watching "Mine" in 2005, but couldn't get it bacause my shit computer/connection. Got it in August 2006, but couldn't play it properly until september/october because my net connection was so shit and I'd be kicked for "losing key packets". About 90% of my kicks are from this time.
I remember playing it a week or two before 1.4 came out, anyways. I never experienced the earlier days.

I've been playing since the demo came out. I remember all the major gaming sites dying under the massive demand; luckily I got a private FTP link from someone and was able to play it after the agonizing 'optimizing shaders'. I could only play for 30 minutes, on single player, because I had to leave to a friend's house to the beach for a week. When I got back, I had my new FiOS internet and had so much fun. Once the game came out though, my computer sucked balls and couldn't run a lot of maps... so I didn't play until around September when I got new RAM. Then the addiction started =p has DICE been agonizingly annoying about how they treat the community? Fuck yes. But have I had fun? I'd be lying if I said BF2 wasn't the most entertaining game I ever played. All those hours with clanmates, with friends, great stuff.
Here are some flashbacks in time:
///M5-R I think this was my first one:

I got bored of CS:S around this time:
http://bf2s.com/player/48876832/
My first clan, Terran Forces, some good guys and some shit guys:
http://www.bf2s.com/player/49361618/
I've made friends and enemies under this alias:
http://bf2s.com/player/58933305/
I took a break from gaming for a while, came back with this:
http://bf2s.com/player/66348766/
I learned how to fly on this account:
http://bf2s.com/player/67688145/
Then this silly account:
http://bf2s.com/player/69829010/
And finally, the War Czar himself:
http://bf2s.com/player/74095642/ (the Canadian flag was put there cause I wanted to 'show off' that I'm Canadian or something...)
Wow. When you think about it, DICE and EA did a good job. Sure the game has been and will always be buggy, and unbalanced, but come on despite all our bitching we still play. I personally LOVE the concept of ranks and stats and awards, and I hope that a game like BF2 is created (as in modern-day warfare, not near future or future) that has none of the bad stuff of BF2 and only the good stuff.
