They probally would do,but it would cost alot of money.

Mustang isn't big name over here in the UK.Obviously well known but not common at all.
They cost a bomb.

@Ender, how old r u? also I cant believe u got that car for wat would be just over £7500!!!

My dads Golf gti was £27,000!!!!
i'm 17. normally i wouldn't have gotten something this nice, but my dad fell in love with the car when he saw it. it brings him back to the blue corvette Z06 he just sold (to buy me a car) and so he let me get it.

apparently it was having trouble selling because the previous owner, well, he had a heart attack. dunno why that would cause that though.

lucky git! lol. I dunno bout the US, but for that over here the insurance would be huge. I cant drive my dads car cos for me just as a named driver (not able to earn no claims or anything) would cost over £4000 a year. N I passed my test over a year ago n have never crashed.

Insurance shouldn't be too bad.   It's just a automatic V6....not like he can go that fast in it.

I have been driving for about 7 years in the uk(no crashes or claims) and sure as hell my insurance would be over the £2000 mark.

Yeah only a V6 forgot thats a big engine over here, sure it seems like nothing to you guys when you can get a v10 chainsaw lol .

Here's my mustang I had to get rid of once I found out my wife was prego. My son is worth it. I'm now driving a 97 sebring lxi that needs a new tranny.

Probably 60% of your 4 cylinders are faster than the V6 mustang....it's far too heavy for it's motor, and matched with an auto trans = the gutless wonder.

Ford got super lazy in the late 90's and early 2000 models and their V8's are slower than my GSR.  My friend has a 98 mustang with the 4.6l V8  5-speed and my 4-door Integra with a motor LESS THAN HALF the size ran the quarter mile almost a second faster...that's sad (for ford).

too_money....that's a beautiful car, ford really got their act together with this last generation...finally put some guts back into their V8's.

Nice car dude. I bet I'll get a sweet ride like an old-ass Corolla

My ideal manual car would be a Ferrari or BMW M5. Paddle-shifts sound so much more haxxor than stick-shifts.

k...so I've been driving it for awhile, and i never really stall going into first anymore. i am, however, either very slow (3-4 seconds to get rolling) or very jerky. should i worry about getting going slowly when i'm on open road? will being jerky damage my car? should i just wait on it and let quick and smooth come with experience?

The only people that care if you're going slow are those behind you... and fuck them. You're just starting out, so they can go around if they're too impatient. Starting jerky won't do anything to your car, just like stalling. I believe the car stalls as to not fuck it up, so you're ok imo.

Just keep doing what you're doing. Eventually, your mind will get used to the constant up and down motions of your left and right feet and it'll be second nature. When I first started out, I would practice shifting w/ only my feet in a chair. You basically want to give off the left and give the same on the right at the same time.

Also, since I had a mustang, get new rims!! Those stock 16" rims are total trash. Coerce your dad into getting you some 18" fanblades, or 19" shelby replicas, maybe even some deep dish chrome bullits. Stock v6 mustang rims are so ugly it isn't funny. I even hated my stock gt rims. I liked them when I bought the car, but they ended up being too plain.

God I miss that car

lol, k. thanks for the help by the way.

edit:

still can't figure out why you got rid of it. mustangs have 5 star crash ratings, and the back seat is plenty fine for a young child.

The herky jerky stuff will go away.  If you want to speed that up, go to an empty parking lot and practice without the stress of traffic behind you.  Again, try to find a hill you can practice on.  If there's a very little traveled road w/a hill nearby, just practice starts and stops.  When you get to where you should be shifting to 2nd, just hit zero and stop.  Repeat until it's muscle memory.  That whole getting rid of the stress of traffic is important.  You'll notice in the first few times that everything is easier when you can pay attention to what the car is doing, and not to the asshat behind you.

For a bit of fun, and once you starting really feeling like you've got it, start doing everything as slow as you can.  Learn the lower limits of each gear.  When you can crawl around in 3rd+ without bucking, you're really getting it!  It's a nice skill to have in heavy traffic and besides, you don't want to be 'that guy' in traffic that can't drive his manual.

I got rid of it because I couldn't afford the payments and pay to bring a baby into the world. I'm going to have like $600 a month extra now because I'm not paying a car payment/insurance.

ah, makes sense.

i just stalled in the parking lot at subway. it made me feel silly. i've stalled on roads plenty of times, and it just made me annoyed.

The best thing to do is laugh it off.

Especially here in england everyone laughs about it,doesn't matter how long you have been driving anyone can stall the car.

You will get used to gears properly and will know how much power you need to apply for each gear. The main problem is finding the rev's fopr each gear.

did you try hills yet, when you do first time, just rev it up a lot and let go of the clutch fast, it might peel a little, but at least you wont roll

only hilled things i've done is the slight slight slight downgrade on my driveway. so slight its only noticeable by the car rolling with the clutch out.

i also learned manual driving a little while ago when i got my jetta... The clutch on that car is sooo far.. about and inch or two before the pedal is released to the end..  But now i dont have problems... just take your time and you will learn... Then you will start to "explore" the limits of the car... When i started 3-4 months ago, i remember i was shifting at 3000 rpm but now i push it up to 5000rpm sometimes... But stay between 3k-4k to save more gas... (may be diffenrent from a car to an other..)

Advice for learning to drive a manual...

Well, my wife's American, and only drives an automatic, whereas I grew up on manual.  One thing I think is really important to learn is to use the handbrake, since you hardly ever need it in an automatic.  I use mine all the time, pretty much any time the car comes to a halt.

With the handbrake on, when starting (and this is crucial for hill-starts), you can ease out the clutch and ease in the accellerator, and you'll feel the car move against the brake, then you can just let the brake off and move off.  Doing it this way means you can put the car in gear while stopped, and all you have to do with your off hand is let off the handbrake.

If you use the handbrake any time your car isn't moving, you'll NEVER roll backwards (which is something best avoided, for all sorts of expensive reasons) at a start.  You'll also be able to have the car on the bite of the gears, but still not moving (though don't push it too far, a handbrake won't hold the car still if you let the clutch out fully), which allows you a very smooth, not to mention quick, move-off when you're stopped at lights, or a junction, or whatever.  It gives you better overall control of the car in starts, because you can use your foot for the accelerator, since your hand is taking care of the brake needed to keep the car still.
