Guys, I have a huge problem.
I have an essay about math to print.
Um, I finished it yesterday and was about to type it today when the whole PC got a blackout.
Also, my upstair computer does not have a printer, so I can't work there. The problem is, that the essay is due tomorrow.
Yeah, I wil type at the local library, but I have a question.
What is wrong with my PC now?
The moniter is still working, but the motherboard is screwed.
The only thing that is alive is the little light at the on button.
I want to post a pic of it, but my camera is with my dad right now.
Can someone please help me?

With 'bring your upstairs PC downstairs' a close second.

When you say the monitor is still working, do you mean it comes up with the manufacturer's logo when you switch it on?

BTW I don't think taking a picture is the best way to communicate the problem. Post your specs and explain exactly what the problem is. Saying "the whole PC got a blakout" doesn't help much.

EDIT: I think the above solutions are worth looking into lol

Sry... I forgot most of the specs
I do remember that the PC had a x300.

The computer just is fucked up. It cannot do anything.
BTW, this happened while the computer was still on.
I think the power supply was screwed, since it happened 3 times already.

No, the entire thing is dead, except the little light on the motherboard that comes up near the on button.
Everything else is dead.

It could just be shutting itself down because it's overheating (my old machine did that all the time in summer). Does it happen as soon as you turn it on or does it only happen when the computer's been running for a while? If you can, D/L Speedfan and check what temp your CPU is running at (keep checking the temp until the computer goes off).

Also, when you say "the little light on the motherboard that comes up near the on button" do you mean the light on the front of the case? or are you talking about the light on the actual motherboard inside the case? Not that it really matters, but I just don't know what you mean.

Rip the hard drive out, stick in in the downstairs computer in the 2nd slot. Use the printer on that computer, and access the essay you were typing.

He hasn't typed the essay yet. He just wants to be sure he can print it before he does. So he should just connect his printer to the other computer.

But that won't help get his broken computer fixed.

That's the other thing. When my computer kept shutting down due to overheating, I cleaned all the dust out and it was OK for a while. But then the PSU fan shat itself and it went back to shutting down all the time. Same symptoms, but different cause.

I agree, take the harddrive with the essay out of the burnt computer, and stick it in the second computer. Like this:

Carefully and levely unplug the first harddrive, and unscrew it from your case.
Take the side off the computer upstairs, clear the dust, and locate the harddrive. Coming out of the harddrive will be a cable that looks like this:
https://www.computerwriter.com/images/ATA_cable-labels-small.jpg
See the port in the middle of the cable? The one labeled "Slave connector", this is where you plug your second harddisk in. BUT before you do this, look on the back side of the harddrive, there should be an 8 pin area (im pretty sure its 8 or 6), and 2 will be covered by a plastic piece, this is what tells your harddrive if its a slave or master, you want to look on the bottom of the harddrive and you will see instructions, make sure the plastic piece is covering the "Slave" plugs. This may sound hard but its very simple.

Now plug your slave drive into the slave port and set it carefully (and i mean carefully!!! HDD's will break for no appearent reason so be f'ing carefull, dont flip it over, if you want to read the bottom hold it over your head)
Now, start up the computer and let it perform any neccesary updates, and the end result is another harddrive listed on the "My Computer" list.

Now you have your essay upstairs.

Yes but if he moves the printer he will have to write his whole report over again, he probly saved it on his burnt computers harddrive.
