Nether side is the good guys in this. The only ones that suffer are the civilians on both sides.
I not saying anyone is. I'm questioning the assumption that because the actions of the Israeli state are condemned less by the West, that they are any better than the Palestinians. Which they clearly are not. I'm quite well informed on the history of this conflict and I certainly see the Israelis as being more in the wrong than the Palestinians. Before I had read into the situation so thoroughly, I had thought that the Israelis were the good guys, I was shocked to find out how wrong I had been.
But the problem you are running into is that you are taking sides, people choose the governments, but once they are chosen, we have very little control over them. You cannot condemn the Israeli voter for casting a vote in which he/she thinks is bettering their country. The same goes for Palestine. The UN needs to step into that messy situation and mediate the whole affair.

Exactly. But the UN can't. Why not? Because any atempt to pressure Israel into a solution is vetoed by the US. It is only through international pressure on Israel that they will offer terms that the Palestinian government can accept. It's the only realistic way I see of them achieving peace.

It's far from ideal in my eyes. The whole concept of the two state solution disgusts me. It is a racist and apartheid based system, with one set of rules for Jews and another for Arabs. There is no ethic equality in Israel/Palestine, nor would there be in a peaceful two state solution. But that's a heck of a lot better than what they've got at the moment and a peaceful coalition government of a unified Judeo-Islamic state of Israel/Palestine with equal rights for all regardless of ethnicity or religion, is really just wishful thinking.

the international community has done nothing else but intervene in the past 25 years, and with what success ? We keep starting "peace processes", make the palestinian leaders sign "road maps", but what good is all of that, if the regular hamas of fatah member doesn't give a damn about what we decide ?

The so-called palestinian "government" is a joke, and has no control over its own people. Well-armed bands of hamas and fatah radicals roam the streets, and the government can't do shit about it. All they can do is barricade themselves in their offices and cry for international help.

Screw them, I say. Sort yourself out before you ask others for help. Your own people are killing each other, and no UN peace keeping force will change that if you don't have the will to do it yourself.

I'm fed up with them, I really am. We have done everything we possibly could, we keep pumping money into palestine, and all they can do is kill each other. Ungrateful bastards. Let them rot.

That's because that is the wrong sort of international intervention. It's not about aid and peacekeeping, it's about pressuring the two sides (mostly Israel, since the Palestinians have little to lose) into reaching a resolution to this disasterous situation. They can't do that because of security council Vetoes - the bane of the UN.

What are you all so surprised about? Bubbs is taking the scenic route. He could have said, "The United States of America sucks" and by God, the karma system would break along with the space-time continuum.
