I am going to purchase the following RAM soon.

One is 1gb stick and the other is 2 lots of that same stick.

But if I buy 2 lots of the 1gb sticks its cheaper than buying the package.

Here are the links:

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(11667)OCZ … 33Mhz.aspx

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(11778)OCZ … -Dual.aspx

The second one is more expensiv that buying the first one twice.

I just wanted to know if there is a reason for this or its just the company wanting more money.

Please help.

They look exactly the same, but the single 1GB stick is sold out at the moment. Probably because everyone realised the same thing.

I haven't shopped for RAM in a year and a half since I got my OCZ 2G set to run 2.5-3-2-5 @ 1T.  If I recall correctly, the sets of RAM were supposed to be matched within very tight tolerances of each other.  Even in the same lot, single sticks can deviate enough from each other that they may not play nice together or you may get a solid over clock with one whereas the other won't support the same OC.  I dunno if you're even interested in OC with the value ram (probably not I'd guess), so a matched set probably isn't as important.

There are various support forums with OCZ reps participating.  The former DFI-street, DFI Club and Bleedin' Edge are some I know of and have used.  Find the appropriate threads and you may find your answer or just send a question to OCZ themselves.

As a side note, good choice in manufacturers.  OCZ has my infinite support after helping me on a problem with my original setup w/ a DFI board that had notoriously strict requirements on RAM quality.  Ryder from OCZ helped me RMA my RAM back and got me a set that worked great.  I actually think it was a DFI issue as the RAM checked out okay in every other board we tested it in except for DFI boards.  Weird tolerances on those DFI boards....

kk, thanks for all your help. So basically there is no difference, cept getting the pair might be worth it as they will more matched and may avoid any possible problems.

Thanks for help.

No sh!t.  I liked how in replying to this thread's OP I had to open my newegg invoice to get the PID for a link and find that the price is now $100 better.  I'd get another 2GB at that price, but with this board/OS it won't do any good since it'll go up to 2T and the OS won't effectively use it anyway.  Pretty much got all I can get out of this rig memory wise... When it gets slow for new games I'll start the OC process, but that hasn't happened yet.  Two cores really help with that and with running iTunes in the background of BF2.  F'ing memory hog those two things are.

One more thing. Will any RAM work in any Motherboard provided it matches the speed etc.???

I ask this because I have a dell Dimension e520. I just want to check it will work it in.

Just saw your latest reply... If you've got a Dell there should be a manual or an online PDF you can download to check the memory specs.  It'll tell you exactly what kind it works with.  I believe it's brand agnostic, but things may have changed since I had my Dell.
