hey guys iv decided to build my own computer.. slowly but surely this computer will mainly be used for gaming

i realy have very little knowledge in the area of processors so if one of you chaps could be so kind to lend me some advice on what i should by and how much they cost ruffly i would be very greatful

take in mind this is going to be a gaming computer which should hopefully stand its ground for a year or 2

Im no expert but Intel Xeon would be the best processors right now. Expensive though.

I'd go for a Dual Core processor. Which one depends much on your budget.

Well, when i'm looking to compare processors, I go to newegg.com. You don't have to order from there, but you can compare alot of processors easily.

From what I've read/heard, is that Intel Processors are about to have a massive price drop in late july, and ATM Intel seems to be the way to go.

I'm sure AMD is working to catch up, but its INTEL with teh good shit right now.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT! nice processors are dirt cheap anymore. I spent $1000 bucks on an AMD Athlon fx-55 a while back. I got OWNED

well tbh i cant realy picture myself spending more then 500 on just a processor im not realy sure if its worth it .. what would 500 get me?

Cons: Xeon 51xx parts all use chipsets which take FB-DIMMS. If you're looking for the highest FPS, go to the Core 2 Duos. If you're looking for rock solid reliability and MP performance, you're in the right place.
