I just thought that it would be nice if commanders could split up artillary strikes on 32-64 player maps.  Then you could have one or two artillary guns fire at some place on the map, and the rest wherever needed.  Anyone else like the idea?

being able to individually designate fire for each battery could be nice... though not for the guys on the ground

On big maps I agree but 16 player maps should not have arty.  Would make for great infantry fights/assaults…  Arty on small maps are nothing but an annoyance.

Yeah that would be a good idea, but having to get all 4 to fire diferntly could be a pain sometimes. Also it would be nice to have like a 5 or 10sec time period after you "fire arty" that you could cancel it, as a few times i got a bit of lag and i droped arty in the wrong place, which isn't fun

I think the 2-4 guns represent one only battery and short at that (usually 6 guns). Batteries do not usually fire multiple targets, they need the massed effects to really be lethal. You may fire half a battery sometimes but that is because the other half is repositioning. This battery is probably also representing the Direct Support role. What if you had a General Support Battery that you could call once every 15 minutes from off map?

And as the the recall or check fire, once the bullet is in the air it takes 10-20 seconds to hit and you can't stop a flying explosive except by a sudden stop along the trajectory somewhere. Usually my tank.

Yeah true, but i have noticed when i look, that after i hit the fire butten for arty, it takes a little while for the guns to start fireing, as i was standing right next to them. I know once they are in the air your stuffed, but that little time before it would  be cool.

ANd having a General Support Battery would be cool, but not at every 15mins maybe after like 10, casue 15 mins is just too long. Or have it if you get so many comander points each round you can use  it...

I agree, It is a pain when you are having an awsome firefight and arty destroys that.

I have noticed that when you fire artillary, the guns actually turn in the direction of the placement. Would'nt it be bad if there was some bug where the guns didn't turn?  I wonder if the artillary would'nt hit at the right location.

Anyway,  I think the artillary rounds themselves should be better against tanks.  They are realistic against infantry, but a tank should'nt just we able to sit in the middle of artillary and live.
