Guys i've been suffering from a bad case of allergies and its been getting worse. Every year i get it from spring to summer and this year its at its worst, I can breathe through my nose but i cant smell anything, I've tried alot of home made remedies and alot of over the counter drugs and nothing is working for me. Can anyone suggest something that works for them?

I had them too till I moved closer to the ocean and it got better also if that's not a choice open your windows at home or go to an open field early in the morning before 8 am and breath really deep like 10 times ans exhale through your mouth

try smashing your head against a window till it breaks.  you wont even be thinking about your allergies afterwards.

I take Loratadine. It works very well. You can buy it at Wal-Mart.

I've dealt with allergies for a long time, too.  Go get tested by an allergist and they can tell you what you're allergic to.  I take Allegra and that seems to help.

My allergies are so bad that I have to stuff every pocket in my pants with tissue and carry around a tissue box wherever I go if I am going to be gone for more than an hour.  I am constantly blowing my nose, because if I don't it runs down my throat and makes me cough.  Because I am constantly blowing my nose I get sick a lot.  People are always giving me dirty looks at school, but if I went outside everytime I had to blow my nose I would miss half of class.  I have tried numerous allergy medications, but they have done little for me.  You would think that in this day and age, there would not be people who's lives constantly being interrupted by sneezing, coughing, and a runny nose, but I have yet to find a cure.

I did that for 2 years, only they don't give 6 a week.  They give at most 3, and even that is uncommon.  It stays in you system for a while, so 6 a week would be a waste of time.  In short, I am doubting you story.  Why would they give you six a week?

I'm allergic to cats...

They're so soft and fuzzy looking, it's not fair... And all my friends have cats, so every time I go over, I usually get a runny nose.
Any cure for cat allergies?

I'm allergic to pollen.  It is everywhere, all the time, and there is no escape.

They would give them to you all at once.  6 times a week doesn't make any sense.  It stays in you system for a while, so 6 a week would be a waste of time.

Get a shot or prescription. You can get some prescriptions without even having to go through that big allergy shot test, and I recently moved to shots and thats been working well for me.

Well David, this actually ought to help you, especially seeing as we're both New Yorkers.

For the past year, I've been undergoing immunotherapy. Long story short: I get shots of allergens, exposing my immune system to them and eventually becoming resistant to allergens. At first, you have to get the shots weekly, but as the doses get larger, the amount of time between shots also gets longer. It's actually worked quite well, I don't sneeze as much or have my nose run quite as much during spring. Also, my symptoms of hayfever have gone waaaaaay down.

If you want, I can recommend a doctor in Midtown who specializes in this stuff. Or you could read this first (*gasp*, Wikipedia!):

Hope this stuff helps!

EDIT: Oh, and this applies to all you blokes suffering from allergies and shiznit.

Depends, you need to go to an allergist and get a needle test (where they skin test everything under the sun).  This helps so you can pinpoint what specifically you are allergic to. Most insurances cover it. If you had to pay outright its usually around $3000 usd.

I get a steroid shot once a year, but only helps with inflamation.

Other than shower often, change clothes often, make sure your mattress and pillows are covered. As for drugs? For immediate relief typically anything with some sort of ephedrine in it.

I had shots (cortico-steroids) once a year for a few years. The downside is they make you put on weight, which is no good if you're my size already, but that was the only thing that seemed to work. All those tablets you can get don't work that well for everyone. I found that if I keep my allergies under control I don't get that bad, I can cope with a few things making me sneeze, but once my allergies flare up every little thing that can give me allergies sends me off. I also found that stress makes them worse (which is probably why once I get allergic I stay that way for a while - it's pretty stressful sneezing constantly for days on end). Also they say that regular exercise helps, and being depressed makes them worse. Like my Dad, I started getting allergies when I turned about 22, and they were really bad for a few years, but not so bad later on.

@OP: Go get an allergy test to see what you're allergic to (I was quite surprised), and avoid things as best you can. Good luck.
