better know by me as "the attack chopper"
as far as i know the Comanche project has been scrapped.S.Lythberg wrote:
I'm fairly sure I've heard AH-1Z "super cobra" outside of the game.
Besides, i've never heard the "viper" designation before. I believe the US operates Apache, Cobra, and soon Comanche attack helicopters.
The viper is just a modded version, but I'd still call it the cobra.
as of i believe 3 years ago. Too costly with too little gain.Parker wrote:

FYI, the P-41 was only an experimental plane. the P-47 was the original Thunderbolt. The A-10 was named after the P-47 due to the two planes' similarity in effectiveness of ground attack and ability to take a beating.Talon wrote:
Thunderbolt II. The original thunderbolt is the P-41 from WW2. As the poster above said, the Warthog is just the nickname.Wraith wrote:
The official designation is Thunderbolt, but the majority of those dealing with them call it the Warthog because they think it's ugly.[pt] KEIOS wrote:
btw. who sets up the callname? for example: the a10 is called thunderbolt and warthog - which one is right? is only one right?
i still stick to the name cobra, because the chopper is another modification of the original cobra series. and the callsign viper might be just the projects name - but the way it gets called by the majority might be another...
Actually they call it the warthog because of the grunt-like sound the A-10's gau-8 cannon makes when it is fired.Wraith wrote:

I agree. When im on a server its my chopper anyways regardless of who thinks its theirs. So if i play with any of you and your waiting for the chopper and i join the wait make sure you ask me if you can get in with me. If I say no then its no.3lmo wrote:

The name of the chopper isn't important, it's always _my_ chopper.
Nah, ok, no
The F16 is called the Fighting Falcon.nonexistentusmc wrote:
Yeah, the Comanche is gone. I don't think the AH-1Z is called a Viper. I know the F-16 is. It's a freakin' Super Cobra.
