There is quite a difference. For example, lots of heatsinks don't work on anything but a 680i.
Go for this P532.

It's much better.

Second one wins. Badly.

Honestly, you wont make a bad choise with that board.
Can you explain why the second is better?  I'm going to buy components in the next day or two and I was planning on buying the first one the OP said he was considering.  I'm still pretty new to this, but from my *limited* point of view, the eVGA has a more recent chipset while the ASUS has higher fsb capabilities.  That's the only real difference I see.  Is the ASUS really superior on that alone or am I overlooking something?
See linky above.
ASUS is more reliable and their BIOS system is impecable.

Lemme do the math here:

Selling 590i and 5600+: Got back 172, 160 at minimum (probably more so I'll round it to 170): 340. I have 60 bucks to that, so that's 400.

Core 2 Duo: 225
That mobo: 209.

That's about 435 dollars.

I can't afford that second mobo...unless my mobo sells for 200, which it might but I doubt it.

Edit:

Zimmer, I can EASILY afford this one with the rebate.

It's got GREAT reviews.

Don't think so, Zim.

"The pictures shown are from the NEW version of this item. If you purchase this Open box product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE, meaning it is just the item itself. Accessory items are NOT INCLUDED with Open box products. Accessories are shown in the pictures so that customers will know what is missing from the item."

Which means I'll have to go out looking for all the cables and everything.

I'm gonna go with that EVGA. It looks reliable and like I said has awesome reviews.

I wouldn't care about the accessories tbh. Get that board, download it's drivers and voila

Yeah, that's what I had when I had my AMD.

Now I'm down to these two:

I feel like I need to flip a coin...I just don't wanna make a bad choice.
First one. Last 3 ASUS boards I bought (I used to be an all-ASUS guy) burning out in under 3 months without overclocking. The customer service was awful. The BIOS was awful. EVGA has awesome support and are friendly, helpful, and speak English...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOEZ! Intel uber price drop on July 22nd... Heres what I would do, buy a cheap Core 2 Duo (E4400) then buy something else in the price drop.
meh, a hundred bucks difference.  With overclocking and gaming, the electric bill will even it up to the current price.  The price of the E6600 is still good.  If he wants to buy it now, let it be.  If I wanted to get an E6600 right now I wouldn't mind paying the current price.
