Flecco made a vague reference to this in another thread. I just looked it up.

This is some truly scary shit. So, apparently, the CIA was involved in a massive scheme to thwart Communism through propaganda in American media. Ironically, it used a paragon of anti-Big Brother sentiment "Animal Farm" to spread its agenda.

Using Orwell to support a homegrown capitalistic version of fascism.... Wow... disturbingly brilliant....

I guess it just verifies that oligarchical collectivism is just as much a threat to society as old fashioned Communism. Either way, the government and corporations want to control the people....

Because everybody playing the espionage game likes to pull shit like this off. Nobody is badmouthing them because almost all nations on Earth would be guilty of it if they could do it. Normal rules don't apply here, countries understand that.

Combine that with the fact that the journalists were bribed by the CIA not too... Jokes.

The CIA just have the logistical, monetary and political backing to do it. I just thought it was fucked up they did it on their own turf and possibly still do. I do remember somebody saying it was against the CIA's mandate to perform an op like this on US soil but there you have it.

Books are best, but are hard to find and my Dad's collection went missing during a move a few years back...

Just dig around with scroogle, google isn't advised because the CIA and NSA get all the info on what google searches are conducted by who... Though scroogle isn't much more secure really...
