Take a screanshot with fraps. Then compare the shot to your desktop. That will show you what res the game is running at.

- How to set game to play at 1900x1200
OK, I did the command line thing, then ran the game with FRAPS. My screen shots are all identified by windows as 1600x1200. (When you do a detailed listing of items in the c:\fraps directory). Is this accurate or only saying 1600x1200 because it is the free version? Like maybe it won't go higher?
The thing that gets me is, when I first installed my X1800XT, I was offered resolutions up to 1900x1440 in the video tab of the in-game options. I was running with that setting OK until I tried to change it to 1920x1200 when BF2 would then bomb to desktop. I re-ran the patch to fix this, but in turn it made my max resolution in the video tab to be 1600x1200. Now it seems I am stuck at that. Video.con changes render my game unplayable (bomb to desktop) and the command line switch appears to not work. The X1900 is the same, of course...
Any other options?
EDIT: I think, since I have changed so many items since my original install, I am going to uninstall anrd reinstall from scratch after cleaning my registry and drives of all references to BF2. Seems to me this is the best thing at this point.

LOL @ BudRell
Just go into > My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001
And Open A File called VIDEO.CON with Notepad And you can set your resolution for whatever floats your tug boat
All these fancy ass monitors it must be funny for people that buy all this and then Dont like the game

Go in the properties for the battlefield 2 icon on the desktop. And in target it shud say:
"D:\Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 640 +szy 480
"D:\Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" - whare I installed it.
+fullscreen 1 - change 1 to 0 if you want to play in a window...
+szx 640 +szy 480 - add this if you want to play in any resolution you want, just type in whatever you want.
I use this becouse of my stupid graphic card

hehe BudRell... Monitor envy... :-) JK
Video.con editing does not work in many cases, including mine.
Command line switch does not either but I think it is because I need to reinstall the game. Too many changes.
1600x1200 does work well but I wanted to play in a native resolution for what it's worth.

I run BF2 in 1380x1024.
The 2nd weirdest resolution your computer can run at.
No freaking wallpaper is made for that screen resolution

That is an odd rez... Why do you run it at that? Does it correspond to some kind of widescreen ratio?
Good news! Reinstallation and using the command line addition of +szx 1920 +szy 1200 worked!
I took a couple Fraps screen shots and bingo!

Thehe ...no. I just had to write that ..Inspector_Gadget wrote:

Original idea was to ask WHY WOULD YOU play games with such tube ?
I use 21" CRT-tube (Nokia HI-END !.... ) and this is absolutely ahhhh....
Large view, zero latency and clear colours are of course important for gaming.
I have not seen anyone play any game like with living room wall sized LCD lol...but obviously pees are using them...
Off-topic but..
Why do you play with LCD ? Even these new HI-END LCD monitors have LATENCY. And even if that's only a few milliseconds..IT STILL IS THERE...causing ghost effects.
CRT-->no latency = no ghost images.
(BTW : Games should be played with as small SCREEN SIZE as possible.
I recommend this to all : Next time you have an health inspection at school, at job or where ever, ask the doctor about this thing. He/she should know well. I would tell it wrongly... )

Yeah, I guess I have been getting carried away with the screen sizes. I have used every size & quality LCD from 15" all the way to 23". I like the color saturation and brightness of the LCD. I also like the space savings. But, I can't argue too much with you on latency. It is there. Although I guess Viewsonic and a few others have supposedly come out with a 2ms refresh LCD. We'll see about that...
I also like the large, widescreen view of the games. It really makes me feel immersed when that is all I can see without moving my head! :-)

I believe your screen is in 1920x1200 but BF2 is running at 1920x1440 with the top and bottom of the image cut off.Inspector_Gadget wrote:
The video.con caused the game to not start. I reinstalled the 1.12 patch and then changed my command line to this:
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1
This works, but I cannot tell if I am REALLY running in 1920x1200 (I keep mistakingly saying 1900x1220).
Is there a command to type in the console that will tell me? Will Fraps tell me? When I go to the Video Settings tab, it still shows a max of 1600x1200@70Hz... This may be normal though.
Asserts are what BF2 calls errors so I believe ignoreAsserts means to start the game even though you've chosen an unsupported resolution. Also, looking at the command line, what is the "+ignoreAsserts 1" mean?
I have a Sony 24" Widescreen LCD - what does this ghost image look like? I haven't seen one in the six months of owning this monitor. Then again I don't know what apparition I am supposed to be seeing.BudRell wrote:

A Ghost image would be little streaks when you move the mouse quickly (in the turret of a tank for instance), or that you see a haze behind the Jets, etc... if you search on Tom's hardware, they talk about latency and ghosting everytime they do an LCD monitor review.
As to why would you want to have the enhanced res though? I am running at 1680 x 1050 (I know, another strange one), and I actually notice a difference for targeting with the sniper rifle. My headshots went up when I began using the higher res.
I haven't had any issues with ghosting, except in need for speed:Most Wanted, but I expect it there... BF2, the images don't move fast enough to ghost my Monitor. It has 8ms Response (grey to grey), and is laughably the only HDCP ready part of my Rig!
I did have an issue initially with using an DVI cable and BF2, but that's been resolved now.
